Yes I know.. a slightly girly question, but I just wondered if anyone had?

I don`t want it to turn into a `ooh that diet is soo bad for you etc` post.. i just wondered!

Yup - I have.

I lost a lot of weight within the first few weeks. However, as with all these things, you need to stick at it.

I ended up missing pasta, bread, potatoes etc too much and fell off the wagon :D

I`ve now put all the weight back on!

But initially, it`s AMAZING how much weight you lose! You just need to keep it up!

But it will..

Anyway, don`t do it..

Your body needs the things you`ll be depriving it of. You can`t even eat fruit can you? Yeah sure the weight falls off but doesn`t stay off.
Just eat a balanced diet and exercise... Easier said than done. ;-)

Been doing it for about 3 weeks, lost just over a stone so far. You have to be careful though or you put it all back on again, but my advice would be get down to your target weight, and then eat a sensible healthy diet and you will be fine. You can always go back onto it for a couple of weeks if you need to. The way i see it is that it can be no worse for the body than being overwight! :/

You have to be very carefull of this diet as it has a lot of meat and reduced carbohydrates, so if you dont watch out you can get very CONSIPATED.

It does remove the fat as the body burns it, but there can be the above and other side effects, so watch out.

I gave it up as I was totally ill with it. No use being thin if you feel as though you have died and come out the other side:(

I`ve been doing it for 5 weeks so far - very easy diet to do. Lost quite a bit of weight and think of it as damage limitation for xmas!

Seriously though, 5 weeks if a bit too long, your body gets used to the food and the initial massive weight loss soon stops (but so does the constipation!)

A quick tip here...check this site out for some of the best meat I`ve tasted, and lots of carb free stuff (the venison & ostrich are particularly tasty): http://www.rickythebutcher.co.uk/

When people started talking about an Atkins diet, I thought it had something to do with Marmalade. Brrrump-ump!!

Did it a year ago for a couple of months. It`s great for a while, stuffing yourself with all the chicken and cheese you can cram in but if you like bread and pasta, you`ll start missing them really badly.
You`ll lose weight quickly but.....1. you lose weight quicker in the first few weeks of any new diet and 2. With Atkins, the large initial weight loss is down to certain fluids being flushed out of your body, not actual fat coming off.

If you wanna lose weight I`d suggest just looking at your diet and make subtle changes.
IE: If you eat tinned tuna in sunflower oil - switch to tuna in spring water
If you eat a lot of cheese, switch from full fat blocks/slices to half fat grated.

Oh, and try to do some strenuous exercise at least once a week and gentle exercise (15 mins walking etc) every day.
