Gamecube - Rogue Leader help !

RichTea (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 2nd February 2003, 16:45

Just bought a Gamecube for the kids and couldn`t resist Rogue Squadron for myself.

However, feel a bit humble now because I can`t get past the first level !

I get to the bombing run against the Death Star, and I am fine up until the Tie Fighters and then Darth Vaders fighter comes up behind you.

Do you have to just dodge the fire, or can you actually shoot them down or something ? At the moment I`m just trying to slow down/speed up etc but am not having much success.

Any tips ?

Thanks all,
Rich.

You`re on the right track, don`t fly too high and slow right down every so often. The tie fighters will slip past you then you can let them have some.

Some of the later levels are tough, made me swear a lot.

Put it back in it`s box - you shouldn`t be playing games.. ;o)

Nah, really if you`re struggling on the first level, like Wad says, I hope you don`t have a swearbox for some of the later levels.
Just made me think, I remember on one level where sometimes I played and I had to do different things and sometimes the level was dark and sometimes it was light. Eventually realised it was to do with WHEN I was playing!! Play in the day and you get the day level and at night and it was dark. Must use the Cube`s internal clock. What a cool feature!! Shame it`s not used more in other games.
Great game - crank up the sound!

Oh, the question.. also at the end use your scanner to see where you need to fire your torpedo down the hole. It`s low down on the floor.

I think also you don`t need to worry about shooting down darth vader - you can`t kill him and it`ll lower your hit rate. Stay low in the tunnel then as the ties come up behing you, slam on the brake and shoot. They`ll fly past and you`ll get them all. Got to agree its a great game and what I bought my cube for!

You`re starting to sound like my missus ! But I do feel a bit of a plank `cos I`m normally okay with PC games and the like.

Anyway thanks for all your tips, and I`ll try and crack it later (if I`m allowed.....).

Thanks,
Rich.

I`ve had this in the house a couple of weeks now, still haven`t played it (finishing off Lost Kingdoms, disappointingly short and easy), but tonight may just be the night that it graces the GC.

I couldn`t finish Lost Kingdoms, couldn`t beat the final boss. If you manage it please pass on some tips. I agree the game was short, but thought the difficulty was pitched pretty well.

Quite an addictive game I thought.

Last boss on Lost Kingdoms - transform one of your cards from the temple into Doppelganger (Giant Turtle, White Tiger, Blue Dragon, Phoenix - 9999 exp needed), once on the last boss throw away cards till you get to Doppelganger and throw it at him, if she touches him it kills him outright, you can then go back and try to get better ratings on the previous levels. Apparently there`s a second Lost Kingdoms (Rune 2) coming out in the states soon, may have to get a freeloader.

Managed to play RL last night, found it pretty hard first time out, I`ll be back on it tonight.
