RE: Wharfedale WDTR160 DTR with 160GB HDD £74.99

I also picked up one of these over the weekend and first impressions were good. A couple of times this evening though the screen has gone blank on some channels and only comes back after powering the box down and back up again at the socket. Has any one else experienced problems like this? I think I read someone mentioning a similar thing on the digital spy forum. I`m going to keep an eye on this but things don`t look promising ...

RE: Band of Brothers Boxset - £17.99

I`ve just picked this up for £15 in FOPP, Covent Garden, London. It was in the sale section so not sure if it`s a nationwide thing but worth a look if you`re passing.

Help: Broadband connection speed required for xbox live

I`m after a little help from anyone in the know.

I`m soon going to be shelling out for broadband at home and want to get my xbox up and running on xbox live at the same time. Does anyone know if theres a recommended speed for running xbox live? Basically I`m wondering if I`ll get away with a 512K connection.

Any help much appreciated and thanks in advance.

RE: WHS Clearance Bargains...

Afraid there were no Cubes left at Holborn (KIngsway branch) and also turns out they didn`t even have everything in my box! Got home to find the power supply, controller, and game all missing :-( Waiting on them to call back to find out if they have them.

RE: WHS Clearance Bargains...

Picked up Gamecube metroid prime console and game pack for £29.99 in Holborn London at lunchtime! Needless to say I`m pretty chuffed too!

iPod - Differences between US & UK

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts one this one.

Planning a trip to the states and the exchange rate is pretty good so thinking about picking up an iPod while out there. But does anyone know of any differences between US and UK models. Presumebly the power adaptor will be different?

Cheers in advance for any help.

RE: "PRE-viewtiful Joe"

What did you have to do to get the demo disc? I`m sure lots of people will want to know!

RE: EYE TOY....

You`ve all almost convinced me to get this. Whats the best price anyones seen this at. I can`t seem to find it through pricetracker yet. Any help, greatly appreciated as the highstreet price seems to be £39.99 and amazon aren`t shipping for 1-2 weeks.

RE: 2 DVD`s for £25 at GAME Shops

Looks like the offer has extended to include some pre-owned console games. I picked up Luigi`s Mansion and Wave Race for the Gamecube the other day. They also had eternal darkness and I can`t see why you couldn`t mix a DVD with a game.

Looking for a cheap N64

Does anyone know where I might be able to pick-up a cheap N64? I`m not really sure what the going rate on a boxed one would be but I`m tempted to try and pick one up as the price seems quite low at the moment. As a marker - I saw one the other day that came with Zelda - Ocarina of Time for £20. I`m beggining to think I should have bought it when I saw it!

RE: Official Gamecube Controllers - £12.87 In Dixons

Jeesh!!! I`ve a good mind to take it back and get my money back! Maybe thats the cost of shopping in central london. Its got to be a bit of a steal at either price though hasn`t it?

RE: Official Gamecube Controllers - £12.87 In Dixons

The offer is still running in DIxons on The Strand, London. Just been in and picked up a RF aerial cable for a whopping £1.90! I don`t know if its going to be any good as its not the official Nintendo one but its about £18 cheaper so I thought it must be worth a go. Nothing can be more frustrating than lugging you kit round to a friends for a nights gaming only to find their tv doesn`t have a scart socket!! Also picked up a controller in there the other day for £12.97.

RE: Can someone confirm something for me at Unbeatable.co.uk

Don`t they beat it by something like 10% of the difference? Therefore the difference here is about £30 so they`ll beat it by £3. I might be wrong here so don`t take my word on it but this was my interpretation.

RE: Philips DVD763SA player - anyone got any opinions?

Got mine last night and have to say that first opinions are very good. I only really have my PS2 to compare the dvd playback but it pulps that. Audio playback is pretty good with a quite well defined soundstage. The only thing that I say so far agaisn`t this player is that the build feels a little cheap. The unit is very light.

I tryed the Philips 750 hack on this forum which was activated using my Palm V and omniremote and it seems to work fine. I`ve read somewhere about another hack which only works for 25 region switches but I think this ones permanent. I had the feeling that it had to be easily remote hackable or Richersounds would be selling a region 2 and multiregion version to hype the price a little.

For £139.99 I think this player is pretty good value but I`ll keep you posted as I have a further play with it.

RE: Philips DVD763SA player - anyone got any opinions?

Also, did you manage to find a multiregion hack that worked before you had to send it back? I`ve also ordered one from amazon so I`ll let you all know how I get on.

RE: Philips DVD763SA player - anyone got any opinions?

Richer Sounds were also selling them at £139. I`ve ordered from amazon but their being a little slow at shipping it out to me! Does anyone know a multiregion hack for this player. I`ve found some round the net but can anyone confirm one that will def. work?

Philips DVD763SA player - anyone got any opinions?

The title says it all really. I`ve noticed this has dropped in price recently and I was thinking about getting one. Has any got one?

Also, does anyone know if this is easy to region hack or is it best to buy already hacked?

anyone know a multiregion hack for the Philips DVD763SA

I`m thinking about getting one of these but wondered if they`re easy to hack yourself if you need to buy one that`s already opened up to multiregion? Also does anyone know about macrovision on these players?

RE: Richer Sounds won`t honour prices in latest What Hi-Fi advert

I also had the same experience with Richer Sounds. They`ll only honour the price if you can show them the issue of the magazine. Also, it`s always worth phoning first as they often don`t have any stock of the special offers even though they seem to have been advertising it in the most recent issue of the magazine. Don`t forgot you end up paying another £10 delivery charge if ordered on the web. Richer`s do have good deals on sometimes but its a bit of pain to get them.

RE: Gamecube - Rogue Leader help !

I think also you don`t need to worry about shooting down darth vader - you can`t kill him and it`ll lower your hit rate. Stay low in the tunnel then as the ties come up behing you, slam on the brake and shoot. They`ll fly past and you`ll get them all. Got to agree its a great game and what I bought my cube for!

RE: DVD Harry Potter & Chamber Of Secrets just over £10!

I think FOPP are doing the philosphers stone at £7.99 if its of any use to anyone. No online store but the website is www.fopp.co.uk.

MX superfly, Freekstyle, and Red Card Soccer for gamecube @ £12.99

MVC are currently doing these titles and a few others in their sale. Had a load of PS2 and X-Box titles as well but didn`t really take much notice of these.

Does anyone know if these games are any good? I was tempted by Red Card but resisted so far. I think its available online as well as in store.

RE: Cel Damage for GameCube £8.99 at Amazon

Can anyone tell me if this game is any good? For £10 it seems a little too good to be true! Can you guys post an opinion when you recieve the game. Cheers.

RE: burnout

Cheers for all the help everyone. I picked up Burnout on the Cube from game for £15 (19.99 - £5 voucher) and its a great little game. I just can`t believe how bloody fast it is! Just one question - is there any difference in the difficulty levels of the different cars?

RE: burnout

I think HMV are also going to be doing Burnout PS2 at £9.99 in the sale - its already on the site. So I might pick it up after christmas. I`ve read the gamecube version has better graphics than the PS2 original that has been criticised for the way it looked. Does anyone know if this is worth worrying about or is it just splitting hairs?

burnout

Does anyone know if burnout is any good or is Burnout 2 considerably better? Also any advice on which is better between gamecube and PS2 versions would be good to hear. I noticed that the HMV sale has started online and they have PS2 burnout for £9.99.

RE: X Box and Component Video. COR BLIMEY!!

If no-one minds returning to the original thread rather than this unsuprising console slagging then can I ask a couple of questions?

1) Why is component the best connection type?

2) If its really worth it - where can I get component cables for my PS2 and gamecube? I know my Toashiba TV can take it.

Cheers.

RE: Super Monkey Ball 2 - WHEN????

Good to hear that its better - I was only speaking from what I`d read in reviews of SMB2.

I don`t want to start a sexism war here but I want to add that this is definitely a game for non-gamers - my girlfriend has become (almost) as addicted as I have to Monkey Target. I also heard that this may be coming to the PS2 soon.

Anyone want to reveal their highest Monkey Target score for SMB1?

RE: Super Monkey Ball 2 - WHEN????

I raised the same question a little while ago and couldn`t discover the answer - I even mailed sega who simply told me that no UK release had been set and from looking around the web dates range from before xmas to easter 2003!!!

With such a dillemma, I couldn`t wait and I`m pleased I didn`t!! Monkey Ball is pure genius. Althought the single player levels are a little un-rewarding the mini-games are superb especially Monkey Target. I did hear that they`ve messed a little with this part of the game in Monkey Ball 2 and its maybe not as good?

My advice would be don`t delay - go out and buy it today. Your friends won`t be able to thank you enough!
