Page 1 of Superman Collection 9.99 in Virgin Sale!! Get it quick as may be going up*

Hi all,

Just picked up this bargin in the virgin sale. It usually goes for around 17.99 in most places.

Thought 9.99 was very cheap for the 4 movies! I known the last 2 are very weak, but 9.99 for the first two aint bad. can always use the other two as coasters.

I have also been advised that as of tues it will be going up to 12.99, but dont hold me to that.

I think there is supposed to be a new set coming out to cooincide with the new movie. New special editions and a new cut of superman 2 by the original director.
A bit like they did with the Batman flims once Batman Begins came out.

Still, i thought the transfer on the existing edition of Superman was pretty good so its not a bad deal.

I remember hearing about it a year or so back, so i have no idea if its still on track.

Hey yeah the new superman boxset is still coming out. Read an interview with Richard Donner (likes to be known as Dick) the director of superman 2 and he said that his version of the film is currently being revamped. its supposed to be on a 99 disc boxset or something similar just like the matrix and alien boxsets.

Theres supposed to be a scene were louis is convienced that superman is clark kent so to test him she jumps out of a window a tall building, whilst this is happening clark runs down to the bottom of the building blows some air upwards/towards to soften louis` fall then goes back up to the floor he was on and louis falls into a stall. Clark looks down from the window and asks if she is o.k

In richard donners cut also when the evil version of Huey, Dewey and Louie (i know but i cant be bothered to find what their names are) come to earth i think they kill a young boy, but they changed it.

This is available in HMV on the high street for the same price also. I know...I saw it!!! :p

Superman 1 & 2 boxset is £9.99 in HMV, and the complete collection is £14.99! I know... I bought it!

and The Complete Collection is £12.99 online at Virgin Megastore (free delivery if order over £20)

8 Disc Special Edition boxset is out on 6th November 06 for £69.99 althought thats the rrp and most sites will knock at least a tenner off that. But is it really worth an extra £50+ for a bunch of extra`s most of which will be very dated.

I thought the Ultimate Boxset coming out at the end of the year was going to be 14 Discs?

11 Disc boxset out 6th November Approx £50 includes :-

4 Disc - Superman movie (extended and original cuts)
3 Disc - Superman 2 (extended and original cuts)
2 Disc - Superman 3
2 Disc - Superman 4
(all available seperately too)

Also 13 disc edition in a tin and will include superman returns approx £60 available 4th Decamber

13, 11 or even 8 discs seems like an insane ammount of overkill.

Reminds me of the Alien Quadrilogy, the Matrix set and the Batman sets... as its a couple of good films.. and then a couple of rubbish ones too.

Though i enjoyed my Quadrilogy (which i got before it tanked in price) i think i`ll do the same as i did with the Batman films and just pick up the first two, and ignore the sequels.
(though superman 3 isn`t too bad...)
