Preserving the aspect ratio

Recently upgrade my DVD of Top Gun from the vanilla disc to the 2 disc special edition and noticed the aspect ratio had changed from 2.00:1 to 2.35:1.

Also walking around Asda wondering whether to buy Heat for £5.99 or Heat: Special Edition for £9.99 and noticed the aspect ratio again had changed from 1.85 to 2.35:1

I thought DVD`s/Widescreen was true to the directors vision.

Whats going on?

8 Disc Special Edition boxset is out on 6th November 06 for £69.99 althought thats the rrp and most sites will knock at least a tenner off that. But is it really worth an extra £50+ for a bunch of extra`s most of which will be very dated.

RE: Argos Sale - Creative Zen 20Gb MP3 Player £110

Steer clear of the Sony one, purchase the 20gb earlier in the year returned it after 4 days. It took 16 hours to transfer 45 songs on to it. Sony website said there was a none problem with their software and provided a patch but still no good. PC is not slow P4 2.8ghz running 1gb Ram, Many reviews on other website were people having the same problem.

Couldn`t use anything other than the software Sony supplied too, I have now purchased the Zen Photo sleek and i`m very happy with it. Only grumble is lack of accessories Creative seem to be pushing the Zen Micro now.

RE: Anyone else having problems with return of the king ext edition, on cheapie players ?

I watch this on a Tevion DVD recorder and about half way throught the second disc the subtitles switch themselves on for the rest of the film.
