RE: Quantum Of Solace £6.98 From Amazon Jersey

Sorry, I meant paying extra for the delivery charge at Amazon. I know that a lot of Tesco stores had very limited supplies of the DVD so a lot of folks wouldn`t have managed to get it there.

RE: Quantum Of Solace £6.98 From Amazon Jersey

Mine was despatched within 24 hours from Amazon Jersey with the free SuperSaver delivery option so it`s not worth paying extra.

RE: New Doctor Who To Be Revealed Today

I saw Matt on stage opposite Christian Slater in Swimming With Sharks last year and he was absolutely mesmerising - a phenomenal actor, so I for one am thrilled at his casting as the Doctor. I am now hoping for some form of reunion with Donna in at least one episode - he and Catherine Tate would be great together!

RE: Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull what d`ya think thread.

Saw it this morning after having read very little of the press surrounding it so I had little idea what to expect. I have to say it was kind of brilliant and kind of awful in equal measures. I did enjoy it overall but it really does take suspension of disbelief to a new level...

SPOILER:
The killer ants were cool but what the hell were those CG prairie dog things about?? Sure, the opening Paramount logo gag was nice but did we really need to see them again? I liked the whole nuclear thing at the start - really nice, but once we got into the jungle the CG went waaaayyyyy down hill. I mean that Shia Leboeuf standing between the two cars, then Tarzaning through the trees was just plain bad.

I didn`t mind the whole Roswell/alien thang - the finale was pretty darned spectacular if a tad OTT even for an Indy film. Karen Allen and John Hurt were wasted - they had little to do.

I think overall if you enjoyed the original trilogy you`ll find more than enough to entertain in this movie - I was expecting worse!

RE: 12a rating, can i take my 5yr old to watch the new indiana jones movie???

Having seen the film this morning I would say there a few moments that are way too intense for a five year old.
SPOILER:

The killer ants
in particular would most certainly provoke nightmares in a young mind I would think...

RE: Complete collection of Classic Star Wars figures...what would be the value...?

who the hell is that big monster/tree/frog thing?

That would be Amanaman - not quite sure why he warranted an action figure seeing as he was barely visible in the background of Jabba`s palace in ROTJ!!!

Complete collection of Classic Star Wars figures...what would be the value...?

I`ve just been tidying up all my old toys and cataloging what`s there and I have a complete set of all the old Palitoy/Kenner Star Wars figures from 1977 through to the final 17 released from Return Of The Jedi, including the rare Han Solo in Carbonite, Amanaman and Luke in Stormtrooper disguise!

Does anyone have any idea how much such a collection would be worth or could you point me in the direction of somewhere that might know? All the figures are loose but have all their original accessories. Most are in excellent C7-8 condition while some are definite C9.

Not sure if I want to part with them yet as they do look retro cool, but I`m just curious...

RE: The Doctor is back at last!

It started a bit lame (mainly due to lacklustre direction) but picked up halfway through. I have to say though that Georgia Moffett is the most stunning example of womanhood I`ve seen in a while... I want to marry her!!!

RE: Sky launches online Electronic Programme Guide

Oooooh. They have updated the EPG on the website - looks very nice. I like being able to click and drag through it... very nifty!

RE: Sky launches online Electronic Programme Guide

Remote record has been available for over a year already. I`ve had the Sky By Mobile application on my mobile for about 18 months - it allows me to view the whole EPG and set my Sky+ box to record from anywhere in the world. The same facility was introduced to the Sky website about a year ago so this sounds like old news, unless they`re just updating it.

RE: My trip up Mt Snowdon on Friday.... with pics....

Brilliant! Looks absolutely stunning. I want to go!!!!

RE: Blade Runner 2007 DVD anticipation thread!!!!

It`s amazing that you can pick this up for £17.99 - great value! I`ve only flicked through a bit of the Final Cut so far but I`ve been engrossed in the Dangerous Days documentary on disc 2, it`s easily the most comprehensive making of doc I`ve seen. Fascinating from start to finish...

RE: Aliens Vs Predator 2 New Trailer

The Quicktime version works fine for me. Make sure you have the latest version installed and all your codecs up to date.

RE: Alien Vs Predator: Requiem Trailer

Bloody hell - that does actually look quite good!!! :o

RE: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Now that is a very cool trailer! :D

RE: The Doctor is back at last!

This episode didn`t quite work for me - the ideas just didn`t gel very well and the invasion of the Toclafane just felt like a retread of the Dalek invasion at the end of Bad Wolf in series 1 and the Dalek/Cybermen invasion at the end of Army of Ghosts in series 2. Shame really as John Simm did some fabulous stuff as the Master. John Barrowman was very under-used and Martha`s teleportation was just too unbelievable - her character (and her family) have not been developed enough for us to care...

Hopefully next week`s finale will make up for this rare step backwards.

RE: The Doctor is back at last!

The "Next Time" trail at the end for next week`s episode was just perfection - "what this country really needs...right now...is a doctor" and that grin...wow...just wow! John Simm is clearly relishing this part....

RE: The Doctor is back at last!

Absolutely fan-bloomin`-tastic - the best ensemble piece of acting on television in many a year. Tennant, Barrowman, Jacobi & Simm - brilliant performances all round.

RE: Vegas tomorrow.....idea`s

Yep, I`d second the Grand Canyon helicopter trip - well worth it.

Also have a go on the rollercoaster at New York, New York, and the X-Scream at the top of the Stratosphere is a laugh if you`re not scared of heights.

If you`re there with a lady-friend and want to get a bit of romance going on then book a table on the balcony at Olive`s restaurant at the Bellagio - it`s on the edge of the big lake where all the fountains go off in time to music - it`s fantastic.

If you want to play on the slots then go to the casinos at either end of the strip (The Luxor at the south end or Circus Circus/The Stratosphere at the north end) they pay out more.

It`s impossible not to have a blast in Vegas - enjoy it!

RE: Another ipod question... Headphones...

Go for a pair of Senheisser CX300`s - they come in black or white and sound MUCH better than the hopeless Apple branded ones that come with the iPod.

You can pick them up quite easily on the high street for £30-£40 but I got mine on ebay for less than half that. They`re small, comfortable and have decent levels of bass - highly recommended for the price.

RE: Ghostbisters motor for sale

Wow - I`ve never heard of ghosts being "bisted" before. Sounds kind of rude...

So you work on the show then? Or maybe a time machine?

Hmm. I could tell you, but then I`d have to kill you. ;)

RE: The Doctor is back at last!

It is absolutely 100% NOT going to be cancelled. If, as is suspected, the current production team leave at the end of season 4 then the worst that will happen will be a delay of several months before the start of season 5. This would allow time for a new team to settle into their roles and shift transmission time from spring to autumn.

RE: Blade Runner 2007 DVD anticipation thread!!!!

Tasty....very tasty...I want it NNNNOOOOOWWW !!!!!!!!

RE: Just seen 28 weeks later.. and i`m knackered!... contains light spoilers

I went to see it this morning and was very impressed. The pre-title sequence is one of the best, most intense and genuinely scary 10 minutes of film I`ve seen in ages!

SPOILER:
The constant pounding music getting louder and louder as the house is taken over by the zombies and Robert Carlyle`s escape to the boat was just fantastic - beautifully edited.

I did feel it kind of lost its way a bit towards the end. SPOILER:
After the phenomenal destruction of Canary Wharf the gas attack, journey to Regents Park and the stuff on the tube felt a bit forced and not as convincing.

Still a damn good watch though, especially in a nice loud THX certified cinema like where I saw it!

RE: Can anyone identify this type of spider...?

Thanks for the replies - I`m happy to report that the invasion is now over. I`m glad it`s turned out to be harmless as one of the cats has just eaten the 8-legged little blighter!!!!! :o

Can anyone identify this type of spider...?

Hi folks,

I found this rather alarming little chap hanging from the top of the stairs this morning. His body is almost 2cm long - a little too big for comfort. He doesn`t look like any domestic spider I`ve ever seen. Is climate change turning them all into monsters like this..?

Any ideas on the type? Is it dangerous?

RE: Sky Anytime TV?

Believe it or not it is actually a free service (something free from Sky...can it really be true?!?!?)

It uses the reserved 80gb of space on Sky+ PVR3 boxes to save the programmes overnight and it`s up to you whether you watch them or not - no charge is ever made for them.

RE: The Doctor is back at last!

This was one of my favourite episodes of the re-invention so far... brilliant characters, engaging story, emotional, exciting, and intriguing setups for the rest of the season. LOVED IT!!!
