Sky launches online Electronic Programme Guide

From PCAdvisor.co.uk newspage:

EPG lets Sky+ customers record remotely

"Sky has developed an online Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) which lets viewers browse the content of more than 600 channels up to seven days in advance from a PC or even when on the move.

Using the Online Sky Guide, viewers can search the website for programmes on all digital television channels, including regional variations, using single search terms based on show titles. They can then access synopses of the programmes, links to associated shows and ratings.

The guide has a personalise option that allows users to list preferred channels, genres and page views. Then the Online Sky Guide can highlight recommendations in line with users` interests.

Sky customers using the Online Sky Guide will also benefit from a one-click `remote record` facility, which allows then to add their favourite programmes to their Sky+ planners.

"With such a huge choice of TV programmes and channels now available, viewers need better search functionality to access programme information quickly and easily. We have harnessed the best of the flexibility and interactivity of the web with the best of TV, in an integrated way," explained Gerry O`Sullivan, director of Strategic Product Development at Sky."

That sounds ace, must look for this as I hate having to scroll through the EPG over a week to see what`s on. I miss so much that might actually be good...

Remote record has been available for over a year already. I`ve had the Sky By Mobile application on my mobile for about 18 months - it allows me to view the whole EPG and set my Sky+ box to record from anywhere in the world. The same facility was introduced to the Sky website about a year ago so this sounds like old news, unless they`re just updating it.

Oooooh. They have updated the EPG on the website - looks very nice. I like being able to click and drag through it... very nifty!
