Just seen 28 weeks later.. and i`m knackered!... contains light spoilers
What a way to spend some nice quite time with the wife, while my mother in law looks after my daughter... I`m more knackered now that anything my little Isabel can throw at me...
I absolutely loved it...
I loved Robert Carlyle as the selfish coward, I loved the decimated scenes of London, I loved the sense of pain at having the yanks bail us out, but mostly I loved the gore..
2 scenes stand out - A truly brutal attack that involves fingers in the eyes (I wont say anymore).. and a fantastic use of helicopter blades.. the former is truly harrowing and certanly carries a subtext of domestic abuse!.. while the latter is more lightweight and great fun...
but bloody hell is it all very intense - the style of shot, the score, the relentless running... whew!.. i`m off for a lie down..

I absolutely loved 28 Days Later, but I doubt I`ll get to see the sequel till it reaches DVD.
Thanks for the insight. Really looking forward to it!

Just come back from watching it myself...and the wife just said the same about being knackered! She said she was exhausted from all the tension in it.
I loved the ending though...Mon Dieu! ;)

To be honest, this looks more up my street than the original. Could never get my head around the DV look to the first film; I know its purpose, but it bothered me for some reason.
Don`t think I`ll go see this in the cinema though - will wait for DVD. Good to see a Brit film getting good reviews though. :D
Giggity giggity!

Just put on the soundtrack to the first film again and been asked to turn it off as it is "too stressful" :D:D:D

Thought this was pretty amazing.
SPOILER:
Kind of annoyed how they made Robert Carlyle follow the kids, made it less scary and a bit cheesy.
But apart from that this is extremely intense and well made. I know this isn`t a zombie film, it`s actually far more frightening than that. As a sequel it maintain`s the tone of the original while also being different enough that they aren`t directly comparable, but in my mind both are brilliantly executed works.
And this film is very, VERY LOUD and gory, so if you`re squemish maybe not for you ;)

I thought the first film was good apart from the Apocalypse Now/Day of the Dead style ending when the bloke goes back in to the camp and sets free that zombie bloke to run amok in the camp.

I thought it was very good - not as good as 28 Days Later - but a solid and well made film with a pounding soundtrack and quick editing to emphasise the pace. A very intense horror with a decent subtext and surprisingly good performances from Imogen Poots and Mackintosh Muggleton as the two children.

I went to see it this morning and was very impressed. The pre-title sequence is one of the best, most intense and genuinely scary 10 minutes of film I`ve seen in ages!
SPOILER:
The constant pounding music getting louder and louder as the house is taken over by the zombies and Robert Carlyle`s escape to the boat was just fantastic - beautifully edited.
I did feel it kind of lost its way a bit towards the end. SPOILER:
After the phenomenal destruction of Canary Wharf the gas attack, journey to Regents Park and the stuff on the tube felt a bit forced and not as convincing.
Still a damn good watch though, especially in a nice loud THX certified cinema like where I saw it!
