Play - waste of space!

That`s it! After over 300 DVD`s, Games & CD`s from Play - I have finally had enough. There is something very wrong at their end, and they don`t seem to be listening to the customers. I have just ordered 3 R1 boxsets and each one has been stopped by customs. The first 2 cost me £8.50 & £9 each, but the latest - Indiana Jones - a whopping £10.12. I don`t blame the customs people (the bastards), but Play have been in the game long enough to know not to attract attention. Putting the price on the package is asking for trouble. Sorry Play, never again, and any potential customers out there be warned!

RE: Problems with PLAY !!

I have had over 200 DVD`s from Play & wont be using them again. Here`s why, since changing to PLAYUSA, I have had 2 consequtive discs intercepted by customs. The first cost me around &8.50 and the second £9 (robbing bastartds). I believe that customs are now targeting play because they are daft enough to put the price on the parcel. Never any problem with DVDBOXOFFICE, if you can wait around 3 weeks for delivery. Besides which, PLAY have become rather expensive of late. Just ordered 4 discs for xmas presents - guess who was cheapest by around £8, Amazon!!

Sound problems - please help.

I have a Pioneer 535 which has played everything I`ve ever tried on it. But this xmas I got The Mummy Returns & Jurassic Park 3 (R1). Both have got the same fault - the volume drops out when ever there is a loud scene on the film. Is it the player or the films? Everything else plays fine - Fast & the Furious, The Score, Star Wars E1 etc.
Help!

Tyco - I am so happy to hear that this fault is happening elsewhere. I have got the exact same problem with the sound dropping out on my Pioneer 535. It happens on the Mummy Returns & Jurrassic Park 3 (both are R1 films) I don`t know what the fault is, but I suspect it is the Pioneers or the films themselves. Is your Mummy Returns R1 or R2?

Compare that with the next cheapest - play247 at around £57.

Holiday bargains

Anyone visiting Florida or the US this summer should read my report of the prices on the street out there.

Florida bargains

Just got back from Florida, & can report on the street prices out there for anyone visiting this summer. Firstly, the cheapest place for all dvd`s is Walmart. Bought :- vertical limit, romeo must die, snatch, green mile & meet the parants for $20 each(£14). Also got Starship troopers & The long kiss goodnight for $15 each(£11).The best bargain I got was Traffic at $15 from the florida mall (special offer). The cheapest range I could find was at a price of $10(£7) Young guns & young guns 2, the rest were older films.
But find out where the nearest Blockbuster video is, there are loads, they have ex-rentals (the box has never been touched - mint condition). Some of the ex-rentals I saw were - Castaway ,Traffic & vertical limit all for $14 each. In the other shops the latest releases where between $22 & $28( £16 - £20).

Predator R1, R2 or R4?

Looking for Predator, but which version. Should I buy the R1 DTS version or stick with the cheaper R2/R4. Also does anyone know of any cuts to any of these versions. Plus can anyone clear up wether or not Predator 2 has 5.1 sound or not. Play 247 don`t know.

I have this disc on r2. The film is great, the quality is ok, the extras are poor. Also the disc is not in 5.1, I think it is stereo only.

The Abyss r1 versus r4

Can anyone confirm if the r4 version of The Abyss is the same as the r1.
i.e. same extras & uncut.

DICANIO - JUST TO CONFIRM WHAT MALKY SAID, I ORDERED T2 FROM PLAY 247 2 WEEKS BACK. AT THE TIME IT WAS THE CHEAPEST. FORGET THE R2 VERSION IT MAY NOT BE OUT UNTIL THE BACK END OF THE YEAR. THIS DISC IS AWESOME. IT IS A 2 SIDED DISC (FILM ON SIDE 1 & THE EXTRAS ON SIDE 2) IT COMES IN A METAL SLEEVE AND LOOKS REALLY COOL. THE EXTRAS ARE SUPERB. BUY IT!

I HAVE ONLY BEEN ORDERING FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS NOW, BUT I HAVE FOUND THAT BY FAR THE MOST RELIABLE SELLER IS PLAY247. THE PRICE DIFFERENCE WITH DVDBO IS USUALLY ONLY A COUPLE OF QUID, BUT THE DISC USUALLY GETS TO YOU IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. WHERE AS WHEN I USED DVDBO IT TOOK BETWEEN 2 WEEKS AND 1 MONTH TO GET HERE.
I NOW ALWAYS USE PLAY 247, ITS WORTH THE EXTRA COUPLE OF QUID FOR THE FANTASTIC SERVICE.

HOW QUICK ARE DVDBO

CAN ANYONE WHO HAS USED DVDBO PLEASE POST THE NUMBER OF DAYS IT TOOK FROM PLACING THE ORDER TO RECEIVING THE DISC.

DVD BOXOFFICE

I ordered pitch black on the 6th of jan, and recieved it on the 29th.
My point being is that although i saved £3.24 by ordering it from DVDBO as opposed to play247, it has taken over 3 weeks for the film to arrive. I am pretty sure from past experience that for the extra 3 quid i could have got the film by the 10th of Jan from play.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I AM LOOKING FOR A DVD FOR MY PC. OF COURSE I WANT IT REGION FREE. WHERE DO I GET ONE, OR CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A PLAYER THAT CAN BE HACKED EITHER BY HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE. IN FACT ANY ADVICE AT ALL WOULD BE WELCOME.

BLADE R2 £7.99 + VAT (£9.39)

I HAVE JUST BOUGHT THE MATRIX & BLADE FROM MAKRO IN SHEFFIELD(CRAP CHOICE, BUT HAD SOME GIFT VOUCHERS TO USE). MATRIX WAS £13.99 + VAT, BUT WHEN I GOT TO THE TILL BLADE WAS ONLY £7.99, WHERE AS THE TICKET PRICE WAS £13.99. I THINK SOMEONE MUST HAVE F****D UP BECAUSE I CHECKED THE PRICES OF SEVERAL OTHERS BUT THEY WERE THE SAME AS THE TICKET PRICE.

I ordered pitch black on the 7th Jan (£13.24 - unbelievable). i have not got it as of tonight (18th). i have always used play247, despite all the complaints they have never let me down. I am giving dvdbo a try because they are £2.75 cheaper for the above title.If they take much longer in delivery time I may go back to play247.

RE: Problem Disk or Player ???

THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THAT IT IS THE PLAYER. I HAVE NOT GOT THAT DISC, BUT I HAVE JAWS R1, THE THING R2 & MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 1 R2. ALL THESE PLAYED FINE ON THE 750, BUT I HAD LOADS OF TROUBLE WITH THE 5.1 SOUND ON THE 750s.
IN THE END I GOT A REFUND AND BOUGHT A PIONEER - NO PROBS.
