RE: XP SP3 problem

If your problem is "Access is denied" then just follow the instructions on this page. Very simple and effective. After using it SP3 installed without problem.

RE: XP MEDIA CENTER OR VISTA HOME PREMIUM! ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE!

I would stick with XP Media Centre for now until Vista gets all of its problems sorted out. My new computer came with a Vista upgrade offer which I installed a couple of weeks ago. After suffering from endless blue screens and software problems I reinstalled XP Media Centre. When a big revision/update of Vista comes out which it surely will, I will go back to it as I quite liked the interface. Apart from looks I didn`t really see any difference with XP apart from the fact that XP is far more stable of course.

RE: How do i upgrade to Vista?

On a more serious note, try this.

RE: Suggest a printer, primary purpose will be printing photos...

In my opinion they would be better off spending their money on getting prints done at Asda or Tesco at 5p each for bulk. By the time you buy a printer, ink and paper, waste most of the ink cleaning the injets that tend to clog up, waste most of the paper trying to get the colours right they`ll probably get fed up and end up getting them printed professionally anyway.

RE: ASDA models

I bought one from Asda a few weeks ago and am perfectly happy with it. Remember that Asda will refund you if not happy so why worry. The 1 year guarantee is with Asda as well so no posting back if anything goes wrong.

RE: Best ISP for dial-up / PAYG email & internet access?

V21 "Extra Lite" dialup at £5 per month is extremely good value. This gives you 15 hours per week with 1 email address. Been with them for 2 months now and no problems whatsoever. The Extra Lite info on their site is tucked away at the bottom of their dialup services page.

Link to info is-

RE: 256Mb Compact Flash £17.90 !!!!

I used to use them but I see now that they have a warning on their site that orders may be subject to Customs charges.

RE: Free 128mb memory card for Canon digital camera

Ordered mine about 4 weeks ago and received it today. Receipt was for purchase of camera SEPTEMBER 2002!!!!

RE: DVD Writer

I have a NEC 2500 too using Bulkpaq white label 4 speed from SVP with no coasters. Word is that the 2500 can be firmware upgraded to dual layer but not supported by NEC.

Dial up internet for £5 monthly (60 hours)

New ISP to me. Certainly the cheapest I`ve seen for dial up.

RE: Verbatim Dvd+rw 4x Rewritable Media 4.7gb 10 for £1.10

Lets not get paranoid about Ebuyer. Their system appears to be that when an order is placed the stock is not actually allocated to the order until the day it is "picked". Using normal or super saver delivery means that purchasers before you use up the stock sometimes as their order comes to be picked then when your`s comes up the stock has been used up. I`ve just had that with another item so its not just with these disks, its simply down to the mechanics of their processing system.

RE: Verbatim Dvd+rw 4x Rewritable Media 4.7gb 10 for £1.10

It was a great spot but a pity it didn`t last long. Maybe someone emailing to see if it was genuine was a bit of a mistake. Never mind, better luck next time.

Memorex 1X-4X DVD+RW 5 £9.95 for 5 at Tescos.

Tesco has Memorex 1X-4X DVD+RWs at £9.95 for 5 which is as cheap as ordering from online suppliers and without the postal delay. Bought a pack and they work perfectly at 4X in my NEC 2500a drive.

Is anyone else getting pestered with these emails? I got 3 in one day yesterday and am usually getting one per day. Norton antivirus detects a virus in the attachment and gets rid of them easily enough but why so many?

RE: Photo printers

I`ve had 2 Epson photo printers, 870 and 890. Both produced stunning results but their nozzle cleaning cycles used more ink than I did actually printing. I just use Bonusprint now at 15p per print for real photos (6x4). 8x10 is only £1 if I remember rightly. You can send a cd with your jpegs freepost.
