I am looking to at getting a dvd writer and i have narrowed it down to either the Pioneer DVR 107 or the NEC ND2500a could anyone recomend one, as well as some discs to write to as i have no idea which to use

If it`s definitely 1 of those 2 then it has to be the Pioneer. If only for the (slight) future proof in getting an 8x recorder. I`d also take a look at the NEC 2510 which will give even more future-proofing in that it can record to dual layer.

I have the NEC 2500 which is 8x speed. I am using yellow 4x datawrite at the moment and no coasters whatsoever.

I have a NEC 2500 too using Bulkpaq white label 4 speed from SVP with no coasters. Word is that the 2500 can be firmware upgraded to dual layer but not supported by NEC.
