RE: Patriot day
I think the film's title is actually 'Patriots Day'.

What's happened to Nonags?
Nonags, the long-established freeware/shareware site, briefly disappeared a few weeks back, having apparently changed its domain name from nonags.com to nonags.org; but that domain has also subsequently gone offline. Nonags' Facebook page, which was available up to a few days ago, is also no more.
Curiously, I can find no comments on Google from other users regarding the disappearance - does anyone have an insight as to what's happened?
RE: Fix Windows Update errors
sj, GWX.exe was part of some Windows Updates that automatically 'upgraded' eligible versions of earlier Windows versions to Windows 10. I don't think it's relevant now, as free upgrades to Windows 10 were ended a few months back.
RE: free software for editing software
RawTherapee is principally designed for editing photos shot in RAW format, which is only available with DSLR and high-end compact cameras - most compact cameras produce JPEG files. You could look at the free version of PhotoFiltre, which has quite a range of features specifically for JPEG editing.
RE: Corrupted memory card from phone; photo retrieval
I've found Recuva from Piriform (it's free!) works well in this kind of situation.
RE: changing date taken on loads of photos
Exiftool used together with ExiftoolGUI is a good way of altering EXIF data; not sure how easy it is to change dates etc. in bulk though, but worth taking a look.
RE: Ransomware. :(
On the basis that prevention is better than cure, this link might be helpful:

RE: Kodak RIP
I sometimes wonder if Kodak know about the batteries carrying their brand which Poundland sell?
RE: Is there a Forum member who speaks Turkish ......
Thanks to you both for your speedy responses; that makes a lot more sense in translation!
Is there a Forum member who speaks Turkish ......
...... and could kindly translate the inscription on the plaque seen in the attached picture, photographed recently on a building in Urgup, Cappadocia?
Google Translate renders it as "flying in the sky with the help of the little dock is in place here", which doesn't make a lot of sense to me!
RE: Powerline Adapters (SOLVED)
Interesting - as the Powerline adapters are by definition wired devices and not supposed to be using any radio frequencies for networking, their internal circuitry must be badly suppressed and is actually emitting interference in the same band as your mouse and keyboard use.
RE: [VIDEO] Airplane Geekout - A380 Airbus landing pilots POV
Absolutely brilliant - loved it, especially the intercutting with external views. As I'm sure Andy c really knows, the automated 'retard' call is for the thrust reversers (aka retarders) to be applied as soon as the landing gear hits the runway.
Belkin Pure AV cables at the 99p Store
The 99p Store in St. Albans is currently selling various Belkin Pure AV cables (including SCART, RCA audio, and TV aerial leads), all in sealed manufacturer`s packs - I assume these are available in other branches too. Looks to me as if they are brought in from another retailer who has gone bust - one of the packs was marked for sale at £19-99!
RE: 4X5 Kodachromes
I stand corrected:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodachrome
(although my previous information came from a usually reliable source).
RE: 4X5 Kodachromes
Not wanting to seem pendantic, but I understood that Kodachrome was only ever produced in 35mm. size, due to difficulties in handling larger formats on the complex developing lines Kodak used (it has never been possible to develop Kodachrome yourself)?
Kokoschka book in Darlington Poundland
On Saturday the Poundland store in Darlington was selling copies of `Oskar Kokoschka - Letters 1905-1976` in its book section (Kokoschka was an Austrian impressionist painter and poet).
Needless to say, the book didn`t seem to be a hot seller while I was in there!
RE: Web Hosting?
I would recommend Tsohost - UK based and outstanding support. I`ve used them for over four years now and no complaints.
RE: Website hosting recommendations please...
Have a look at Tsohost - UK based, very reasonable prices and outstanding support. I`ve used them for over three years and had no complaints whatsoever.
RE: 60
Probably not the oldest, but I`m 62 (63 next month!).
RE: Philips shaver £19.99 @ Amazon
Thanks, mc7t, that really is a bargain - advertised at £59-99 in the new Argos catalogue! Just ordered one myself.
RE: UK flag on dvd reviewer website
Some nice ones you can use for free are here:
Redpixart
Flags of many other countries available there as well!
RE: Russian Film Help
Yes, it was done in a single take - there`s at least one point (in a concert hall IIRC) where you can see an extra trying to run out of camera shot. Not on my list of great films of all time, but certainly worth a viewing for its perspective on Russian history.
RE: Anyone know any good Free driver identification sites ?
You could try DriverGuide - you`ll have to register to download anything, but they won`t spam you or anything. I have found it useful once or twice with ID`ing drivers for problem devices.
RE: Anyone seen "In The Loop"?
Saw it yesterday, and thought it was great - can`t remember laughing so much in the cinema for a long time. But it does push all the Guardian-reading liberal (yes, that`s me!) buttons - insider Labour politics, the Iraq war etc., so probably not one for the right-wingers. Also don`t go it if strong language offends (as they say about Roy `Chubby` Brown`s shows!).
RE: Anyone used Camerabox?
I should perhaps have pointed out that their products are `grey` imports - i.e. they aren`t stock sourced from the official UK distributor, who (probably) won`t honour the manufacturer`s guarantee. This is of course common practice for internet retailers selling at well below high street prices. Camerabox do offer their own 2-year warranty, but never having put it to the test I don`t know how effective that really would be if it came to the crunch.
RE: Anyone used Camerabox?
I bought a camera from them and had no problems, although the packaging left something to be desired - the manufacturer`s box was just wrapped round with two of those CityLink plastic despatch bags put inside another one. No damage to the contents though, fortunately.
RE: avg removal
Try using this from AVG themselves:
AVG Remover
RE: Choices UK
Weren`t Choices UK on the verge of bankruptcy earlier this year? - I know they closed all their stores. Presumably they have had to cut-back on staff etc., hence the problems described. I have used them for on-line purchases in the past and they were fine, but not recently.
RE: Ryanair website crashes Internet Explorer 7?
Lizi, I`m afraid not so far. Last weekend I found that the same error also occurred on my brother`s laptop which runs Vista Home Premium with AVG antivirus, so it`s certainly not confined to just my PC (or yours!). I did read a while back that Ryanair recently altered their site to use Microsoft`s Silverlight multimedia plugin, so perhaps that`s the issue (although I have the latest version of that installed).
Until Ryanair address the problem, the only solution seems to be using either the `no add-ons` mode of Internet Explorer, or another browser such as Firefox or Opera.
Ryanair website crashes Internet Explorer 7?
I have found recently that whenever I visit the Ryanair website using Internet Explorer 7, the brower will eventually crash with a kernel32.dll error, sometimes even after I have moved on to another site. I`m using Windows XP SP3 and IE7, both with all the latest security patches, and Kaspersky Internet Security 7. The crashing does not happen with Firefox or Opera, nor if I use the special `No add-ons` mode for IE7; which makes me think that Ryanair are trying to send something to my PC it doesn`t like.
A few posts found through Google suggest I am not the only one having this problem. Knowing Ryanair`s highly customer-focused attitudes, I suspect reporting it to their Webmaster will meet with little success. Ideas anyone?
