What`s the best Low Price DVD multi-region hackable player about at the MO

I`ve got an old Wharfdale 750 and am looking to update it for an RCE compatible player. All suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

RE: Coffy and Foxy Brown RCE on wharfdale 750 (first one)

Thanks for your reply, I haven`t had anything done to it though
How do I go about upgrading it. How much is it likely to cost, or am I too late.

Thanks.

Coffy and Foxy Brown RCE on wharfdale 750 (first one)

Anyone know if it`s worth me getting the above for my wharfdale they`re RCE and I don`t know if they`ll work. Failing the Wharf do they work on Matsui 110?

Thanks

RE: Stingray box set and Wharfdales

Thanks for your help I have done as you suggest and will now sit back and await developments.

Thanks Again.

Stingray box set and Wharfdales

Sorr I know I`m behind the time but are there any plans or is there any way to get Stingray Disc 1 to work on a wharfdale?

Thaanks

RE: OPERA from Anchor Bay Problems

Thanks. I`ve been a bit out of touch recently.

OPERA from Anchor Bay Problems

I`ve got an Old Wharfdale DVD player and am having problems with the above title. Has anyone else had problems I`d like to know before I go to all the trouble of getting a second copy.

Thanks

RE: Sony HT-K215 - any opinions please.

I got it free Moose, I wasn`t gonna say no, thanks though mate.

Sony HT-K215 - any opinions please.

Just got one anyone heard anythig about them.

RE: Wharfedale 750 and DTS

Mine carries the DTS logo and outputs perfectly through my Sony HT-K15

RE: Matsui DVD 110 Owners Past and Present - Urgent

The following problems as well as all of the above were also encountered by me.

League of Gentlemen - Menus
Blair witch Project.- menus again
The Ipcress File - scrambled
Zombie Flesh Eaters - menus

5.1 interruptions in sound, layer change pauses, jolting chapter breaks. Skipping CD tracks, Irregular loading, unexplained crashes. They were just my Region 2 problems. Are you interested in Region 1s , Iguessed not but if you are let me know. The list is long.

Technics-DX940S PK Dolby digital receiver - Opinions sought.

Thinking of purchasing above anyone know if it`s any good

Thanks

RE: Matsui dvd120 screen positioning problems

How can you adjust the TV to overcome this?

Thanks

RE: Matsui 110- no auto subtitles

I do freely admit that mine was one of the first 110 but it caused me a lot of heartache and the retailer offered me no help what so ever. Where DVDs were supposed to be a pleasure my Matsui turned the pursuit into a nailbiting will it won`t it work every time I bought a new disc. All I want to do by stating the above is to avoid anyone new to DVDs from suffering the same dissappointment I did. However I cannot argue with the evidence if all your discs work then OK perhaps I had a bad player.

5.1 reproduction however remains inexcusably bad.

Once again sorry to appear to be a miserable sod !

RE: Matsui DVD 110 exchange!!

I had a Matsui it was a nightmare. jerky sound jerky picture a vast amount of loading problems. You were lucky the bastards at Currys wouldn`t let me change it. Bloke just stuck a copy of the matrix in and said "see s`alright". They offered to take it away into the mastercare netherworld of no return. I just gave up and bought a Wharfdale which at the time was considerd pretty good. Times have changed and I can`t afford another. Oh WOE is ME!

RE: Matsui DVD 110 pause during chapter changes

Only one option with Matsui players. Buy a different one. I had one. One f***ing problem after another (`scuse language).

Sorry!

RE: Matsui dvd120 screen positioning problems

My Matsui did it to the left. My 750 also does it. I think it`s the telly. Which one have you got.

RE: Warping at top of picture when playing region1?

I`ve got a 750 and Bush TV. As well as the warping at the top of the screen which I cannot correct have you noticed that your TV seems to project the picture of centre, generally just to the left. I wondered if it`s just a bad TV I`ve got or if it`s model wide.

RE: DIGI THEATRE HUMMING NOISE?

I suffer from this incredibly irritating problem as well. I know of no solution however nor can I recall reading of one. If there is one however I am as keen as you to learn of it.

RE: Wharfedale 750s & American Beauty

Mine works fine no problems at all I`ve got a 750.

RE: Matsui 110- no auto subtitles

My advice harsh as it may seem is get a new player. My Matsui was a complete nightmare from day 1. It is exceptionally inconsistant around 30% of the discs I bought didn`t work properly or had niggles. Also if you get a dolby digital decoder the sound is atrocious.

It does play Gladiator Disc 2 though.

Sorry!

RE: BEST PLACE FOR BUYING DVDS REGION 1

Only order from Future Ent if its In Stock and a popular bestseller. Otherwise ye are buggered!

I could bore you s***less with stories about let downs from Futureent.

Play and DVD boxoffice are your best bet.

RE: Bush 28

I`ve got a Bush. I`m not proud of it but it was cheap and it`s big. If you don`t have a fortune to spend and you`re too lazy to find a bargain. a Bush fulfils the needs. It`s not great but it`s not as bad as everyone seems to think.

Mine works...... it`s OK.

RE: Future Entertainment

Right On ! I`ve spent a small fortune on stuff from them based on the link. I did not have any problems, but with my last order (still outstanding) They won`t be hearing from me again.

This page is a total god-send and my number one reference point for all things DVD. Gone forever are the terrible days of doubt about whether my player is faulty or whether it`s the disc that doesn`t work and similar obsessive DVD related questions.

Anyone doing anything to harm it goes right on my s*** list.........

RE: Future Entertainment

Just read about Admit One. Oh dear.

Apologies for my recommendation. Won`t use them again.

RE: Wharfdale 750s problems

I`d post that one on the software forum if I were you mate. I`m not sure anyone ever reads this page.

RE: Future Entertainment

My experiences range from good to bad.

In Stock items seem to be OK generally. Although they sent me an old version of Romper Stomper when I ordered the Special Edition which was a pain in the arse.

Out of stock don`t bother I`ve had orders waiting for upto two months. Sometimes they`ve delivered sometimes they haven`t. Not very good on Mario Bava movies I`m afraid.

If it`s straightforward common or garden discs such as Gladiator, Toy story and The Patriot e.t.c. I can reccommend them.

If its obscure stuff i.e Italian Horror maestros, Anchor Bay LTD Editions, creaky old sixties classics and box-sets go for Admit One. Never let me down. Bit pricy though.

Currently trying DVD BOXOFFICE cheap but no results to report yet 10 days after order (gulp)

RE: Gladiator R2 Disc 2 problems

Where the bleedin` hell d`you get one with an S on the end then, and why haven`t I got the bugger when I only bought it 3 weeks ago?

(General cross-ness is not aimed at anyone in partic)

RE: Gladiator R2 Disc 2 problems

I bought a Wharfdale `bout 3 weeks ago. It`s got the DTS logo - does that make it a 750s or what !!!

Gladiator disk 2 does not work on it !

Jaws does.

By way of an ironic postscript to the above. I bought the Wharfdale to replace a Matsui 110 which objected to most DVD titles I tried to play in it.

Guess what, Bastard works on that.

Oh well, such are the injustices of life.

DVD Box office - is it really cheaper ?

I recently ordered an Avengers box set from Admit One, very reliable bunch it was 35 quid. I then visit DVD Box Office and see said box set for 25 quid !

However its a Canadian site in dollars.......

Could anyone help with the following,

DVD Box Office

Has anyone bought from them?

Did you get stung for import duty and VAT?

How quickly did your stuff arrive?

Any observations would be welcomed, Cheers.
