Bush 28" Widescreen for £229 in Aldi
Aldi are advertising a 28" Bush widescreen TV on thier website, it say the offer starts 4th Jan.
http://www.aldi-stores.co.uk/specialoffers.asp
If anybody has a look at this could they shed some light on which model it is - i`ve had a look round and can find 2 models af the Bush 28" widescreen, the WS 6667 (£269 in Argos), or the WS 6671 (£299 in Comet), but the one on the Aldi website looks different to both of these.
You can`t really expect too much for £229, but if it is halfway decent then it might be a bit of a steal.
Well, back in my Merchandising days..I remember getting a store ready for a bigwigs visit.
All TV`s had to be on display...and there was a new Bush one just in.
4:3 mind you, not wide. Anyways, we had 6 in stock.
Off I went and trolleyed the first one outta the storeroom and ripped open the box.
The Tube clips had gone, and the tube was flopping about the inside of the casing.
So I thought it a one off..and trolleyed out another. Same problem.
I now decided to open them in the storeroom.
After opening FIVE of them, I found one that was in one piece, so I put it on display.
Next morning? Knackered. Stuck on standby.
One left in the storeroom, so I duly ripped open the box!
Guess what? Yep, tube rattling about inside the casing!!
I don`t mean to slag anyone off, but before you go and throw £200 away, look again!
Bush are CRAP!!
Anyways...thats my little story finished! lol
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
I think Bush have improved a little - certainly their DVD2000 was a big hit when it came out : along with the early Samsung and the Proline, these were the first REAL budget kings.
Mind you, not all Bush stuff falls apart. When my Dad worked for Rank he used to get free tellies. I`ve got a fully functioning Bush 14" black and white telly from the early 1970s which has an excellent picture (and I`ve still got the instruction booklet too!). Mind you, in those days, they were manufactured here in good old Blighty ! (They were part of the Rank Organisation)
Not too sure about their tellies - they`re certainly at the budget end of things, but their sets have had reasonable (i.e. not startling) reviews in mags like Home Entertainment.
It`ll be interesting to see what the model is - I live 2 minutes away from an Aldi so I`ll pop in on Thursday and have a gander, and report back accordingly.
Clayts, the only Bush I`ve seen that "wasn`t too bad" was the 6690 integrated Digital set.
However, to fit the "CAM" unit from OnDigital, it required an engineer to move the position of the rear casing!!!
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!
You`re joking ??!!!
Jesus, definitely don`t buy a Bush then !!!
(Damn you Jimbo, I just needed an excuse to go to the shop with all the poor people to get 7p cans of beans and 19p bread....I could have said I was researching prices, or something, and smuggled a few out - they only have about three people working at our Aldi (ahem) allegedly)
Bush is the same company and products as Alba - I would therefore never ever buy their products. Their TVs are made in France, so labour costs are higher, and logically the components will be cheaper than far eastern manufacture.
Why is it that two once (50 years ago) excellent british companies turned into importers of cheap crap?
The best bargain is the Silver Goodmans 28 inch wide screen tv with Dolby surround 2 scart sockets and a lovely picture. This is only £198 in the stores called Makros UK. We bought 3 for £600. Thats a bargain.
BigPaulH,
is this set still available? Do they have a web site?
cheers
Hmmmmm........looks suspiciously like the Wharfdale sold at Tescos to me !
I brought a Bush 28" 4:3 TV from Aldi`s for £179.99 back in October 2000.
So far I am really pleased with it and it appears to have been an absolute bargain! Its only got 1 SCART socket (which is RGB capable though) and minimal other features.
Its connected to an NTL digital TV box and the picture quality is superb!
