RE: DVD for under
What about the MiCO Diamante 3000 from Sainsburys (£69.99). I did have some trouble at first but Sainsburys helped me out and I now have a player that I am completely satisfied with.
It plays VCDs, by and update patch that MiCO send you, and is multi region straight from the box.

RE: mica diamante 3000
I also think it is a great player. However, I am now on my second (faulty) machine. Took my first one back today as the picture would flick across the screen, it would do this about five times during a film.
The replacement I was given will load a DVD but freeze within about 10 seconds of playing. Resulting in me having to unplug it. It has done this on all the DVDs I have tried so far. So, back it goes to Sainsburys.
It`s now a little embarassing because I originally had the Clasica 20, which had to go back because it wouldn`t load anything.
It`s a shame because the Diamante looked great on my TV, and it did everything I wanted it too.
Anyway guys, I wish you success with your players.

RE: Mico Clasica problem.
Just out of interest what TV are you using?
I have the same thing on my Mico Diamante.

RE: Mico have fedex`ed the VCD update for Diamante 3000
Hi HardCase, I can`t remember the number, but if you look on the box your player came in the number for Mico is there.
Hope this helps.

RE: Mico have fedex`ed the VCD update for Diamante 3000
Hi There
I have just got myself a Diamante and am really happy with it, Mico are sending me the VCD update when they get it.
NicktheNorse, I orginally had a Clasica 20 but had to take it back (it would not load DVDs properly). So far I am more impressed with the Diamante.
I can`t tell any difference in the picture quality (my eyes are not that good anyway :-) ). I prefer the menu layout and the remote seems more effective, I had to stab at the Clasica 20`s remote.
However, the Clasica 20 had better sound quality, in my opinion.
I would say get the Diamante.
Hope this helps.

Got new TV, but what about the DVD player
Hi guys
I am after some help. I have just ordered myself a new Philips TV (28PW6006) and now want to replace my DVD player, which is currently a PS2.
I have 2 choices in mind:
Toshiba SD120e
Pioneer 350 (both from Amazon)
Does anyone know if the multiregion Tosh will play RCE discs?
I have always liked the picture on Toshiba players, but have never seen a Pioneer before. How do the two compare?
And also, what about compatibility with my new TV. I ask this because I bought a Dansai 955 from Tesco and for some reason the picture on the RGB setting was green. Even though my PS2 plays fine when set to RGB. This was on an old Toshiba TV.
Thanks guys and Merry Christmas.

RE: PS2 info needed.
Hi Pistol
I am affraid it did not come with a passthough. It is a pain that Sony didn`t include one. I could really do with a passthough aswell, gets on my nerves unplugging and plugging back in all the time.
If you have any luck finding one let me know.
RE: PS2 info needed.
Hi Pistol
The quality is decent enough, the scart cable allows you to play games in RGB which really cleans the picture up, movies come out quite nice aswell.
Can`t really comment on the remote because I have never used it (I use the official one). I think you can control your TV with it though.
Region X, you know about.
I thought £15 was a good price, considering Amazon sell Region X for £19.99 on its own. Or a least they did.
The pack is called DVD Advantage
RE: PS2 info needed.
Hi there
I bought myself the DVD Advantage pack from Amazon.co.uk. With that you get DVD Region X, scart cable and a remote. Not bad for £14.99.
Not sure about memory cards though.
Dansai 955 RGB Problem
Hi Guys
Today I bought myself the Dansai DVD955 from Tesco.
However, I am having some trouble with it. My problem is when I select the RGB option in the players menu the screen turns green. When watching a dvd I get a green screen but can still see the picture. When I select back to composite the green screen goes but the image is not as clear.
My TV is RGB compatible (4 year old Toshiba). My Playstation 2 when set to RGB gives a lovely picture on DVD`s.
Can anyone give me some advice or should I take it back and get a refund.
Cheers guys.
RE: Advice, budget DVD player vs PS2
Thanks for that, I will have a look at the Alba.
You`re right about arsing around with the region x. It`s going to seem like a breeze when I play R1 discs in a stand alone DVD player.
Would you know if the Alba can play RCE discs?
Thanks for the advice.
Advice, budget DVD player vs PS2
At the mo I use a PS2 as my sole DVD player with region x.
What I want to know is if I was to go for a budget deck, such as the £70 Bush in Tesco, will I notice any improvement over the PS2? ie picture, sound quality.
Or should I keep the PS2 and buy some more DVDs?
What should I do?
Cheers guys.
RE: SKY Box Office - Problems ordering a movie (how to...?)
A friend of mine had trouble ordering Box Office movies. He contacted Sky. In the end it turned out to be the modem in the Digibox.
It sounds as though you are doing everything correctly though.
RE: DVD Region X PS2 (RCE)
Thanks, that`s great. I`ll give it a go.
DVD Region X PS2 (RCE)
Hi guys
Am I right in thinking that Region X allows the PS2 to play RCE titles.
I was told that Blaze`s Region Free was the only one that could play RCE, surely they are pretty much the same thing.
Any help welcomed
Cheers guys
