I`m looking for a DVD for under £80 which can play r1 and r2 and also be able to play cd-r`s / mp3 etc etc

any brand recommendation accepted - i`ve been looking at the richer sounds and there selection of dvd`s but are there any other ranges and shops out there ?

any dvd`s to avoid ?

i like the look of the Limit DVD8070 - anyone got a comment on this one ?

I`ve got the Dansai 1010 from Tesco £69.99.

You can make it region free from a hidden menu, and you can upgrade the firmware to play VCD`s, and SVCD`s from a disk from Tesco customer services (or via a procedure posted on this board - search for dansai 1010 and you`ll find it).

It plays MP3`s from CD-R`s.

It also disables Macrovision and CSS protection from the hidden menu.

The only thing it doesn`t do that some do is play .jpg images or Kodak Photo CD`s.

I would strongly recommend taking a look at Richer Sounds, you might find you can get a model you thought was out of your price range.

I would keep checking as models and prices change on a daily basis.

They also have great warranties as standed and good customer service.

What about the MiCO Diamante 3000 from Sainsburys (£69.99). I did have some trouble at first but Sainsburys helped me out and I now have a player that I am completely satisfied with.

It plays VCDs, by and update patch that MiCO send you, and is multi region straight from the box.
