Got new TV, but what about the DVD player

Dilbert11 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 19th December 2002, 12:26

Hi guys

I am after some help. I have just ordered myself a new Philips TV (28PW6006) and now want to replace my DVD player, which is currently a PS2.

I have 2 choices in mind:

Toshiba SD120e
Pioneer 350 (both from Amazon)

Does anyone know if the multiregion Tosh will play RCE discs?

I have always liked the picture on Toshiba players, but have never seen a Pioneer before. How do the two compare?

And also, what about compatibility with my new TV. I ask this because I bought a Dansai 955 from Tesco and for some reason the picture on the RGB setting was green. Even though my PS2 plays fine when set to RGB. This was on an old Toshiba TV.

Thanks guys and Merry Christmas.

Dilbert

The Pioneer 350 is effectively the same as the latest 444/454 players, apart from the styling and some minor functions you`re unlikely to miss.It will thereofore have great picture and sound quality.
If you want a cheap multiregion player then look no further than techtronics.co.uk.
They are as cheap as Amazon and their site explains what all their multiregion players can and can`t do, including your RCE question.
They are also doing 3 free R2 discs with Toshiba and Pioneer players if you buy before christmas.
