RE: Subwoofer hum

Trouble is gingerone theres so many resons why these problems happen even from BAD circuit design...i.e....components mounted to close to each other wires across boards.

RE: Subwoofer hum

Cant say its the problem but,,, if your rel is active which I presume then, there always the possibility of a dry joint on the circuit board causing the problem.
A Power supply electrolytic which filters the Top AC component from the bridge rectifier could also be the problem. I`m not saying it is but if the Hum is excessive it could be a board related problem.

You`d need to comparison test it against another identical sub. just a thought.

RE: Attn Clayts - Legal advice with dodgy telly

err,,,,,,they`ve offered to replace and refund in a week I`d consider that fair. theres plenty of people out there having a lot longer wait unfortunately.

Hope your new ones ok though :)

RE: Progressive scan Ignorance.

F*ck me the cavalry has arrived blow the last post cuz this is it LOL :-)

er.42%er shall I take him to hamleys with me :-)

Well,,,, at least I`m progressing LOL :-) Its me chroma zones pal,,,,,,,,I`m frequencly modulating at 52Mhz with the help of the charming Miss piezo crystal an italian beauty and,,, me bandpass is giving her a right old step down transformer which has me Bridge rectifier diodes breaking down under load. Must be the quick blow fuse that she loves about me. still,,,,,I cant help if she`s de-magnatized by me big head,,charm.decoding board and 24bit forum aliasing. See if only she knew its me metal film resitors that keep her satisfied,,, not like me dear old dad with his carbon composite and his dodgy old valves with 6.3v ac to heat him up like a bowl of Ready brek.

Ok I`m a super conductor and I bet Zibbs is really a BUS conductor DING! Theres a fare there zibbs keep up son keep up :-)

RE: Subwoofer hum

Also, make sure that any cables that run across each other cross at right angles...........Think cross +.

Are you sure its not a poor quality connecting lead...maybe with bad grounding? switch cables. Just a thought :-)

RE: How to get rid of audible `click` when changing tracks?

To check its the player you need to put it through someone elses system to eliminate YOUR system being at fault. The next system would do the same noise if the player is at fault..... Right?

I`d contact Toshies service center personally about this as there might be a slight problem that....... they are aware of.....emails can be slow with them so be warned.
TAKE NOTE: I`m not saying your player has a problem just speculating which........ is entirely different :-)

RE: Attn Clayts..dodgy TV saga..one more thing..sorry

Sorry to stick my nose in but, this might give you some more time while you`re waiting for a reply from clayts.

Do a search on Google under Consumer rights, consumer rights on electrical gooods.....or Your Rights on electrical goods.or something in that area and the answer might come up.

You really should have contacted trading standards who give FREE advice and have ALL THE LEGAL FACTS in front of them. This would have solved your problem yesterday.

If you are not happy with a replacement then tell them you DONT WANT a replacement, then offer to pay extra for another model which ALL shops will jump at the chance to.
Never a problem exchanging for a more expensive model....Funny that :-)

RE: Attn Clayts - Legal advice with dodgy telly

Just a note on the distance selling regulations act.

After speaking to Trading standards myself I was told, If the shop you purchased from hasn`t fully explained the DSRA terms at the time of purchase, then the DSRA can be extended by a week or two. That was about eighteen months ago so I`d check with trading standards IF this should come into your situation.

RE: Toshiba SD220e From Richer Sounds

I dont trust whats put up on specs after seeing that site and some items I looked at as,... It contradicted the manufacturers specs.

I suppose with the amount of turnover on stuff its not surprising if some typos occur now and again. I`d recommend from buying from them though as I have and,.... no probs whatsoever [everythings gonna break down now I`ve said that ] ;-)

RE: Attn Clayts - Legal advice with dodgy telly

Contact trading standards as they may call the shop on your behalf. :-)

RE: biwiring tannoy speakers + `normal` amp = ???

Just a thought as i dont know those speakers,,,,are they to be positioned close to the wall or,, AWAY from it???
Are they close to the corners of the room?? These all have an effect on the Bass sound.
As far as the Impedance goes,,,,i`d presume that that is not the problem,,,because they would have either
A: have blown OR,,,
B: your output would be low from not driving them with enough juice.

Check the Impedance of your speakers,as long as they say 8 OR 16 ohms then they are ok,,,,presuming that the original units inside have not been replaced with INCORRECT impedance units.
One last thing,,,,if the speakers are old as in 10yrs and there are Electrolytic caps anywhere inside the speakers i`d suggest changing those personally,,,,The reason being is that,,, the electrolyte dries out and increases bass response. Dont know if this helps.

RE: Advise: which player do you think is better Goodmans 124 or Tosh sd220e?

er,,,,,,,alan,,,this is the hardware forum.
I prefer the tosh personally but then its all down to personal choice and what you want facilities wise.

RE: Progressive scan Ignorance.

42%er looks like 24%er can`t keep up either mate :-)

Sorry westy,,,,,the shows over,,,,,,,, except south park :-) You would`nt happen to be on a delay setting would ya????? Now,,Now,,,Now,,,Now :-)

Speaking of ass jokes theres always Bottom :-)

Wait for the scthing attacks i`ve probally been a naughty boy again,,,oh well,,, at least hamleys are always pleased to see me :-(

RE: Progressive scan Ignorance.

wow 2%er.....you do Psychiatry too!
Though you couldn`t ANALyize my tv question,..you`ve got me down for an ungrateful spoilt child I guess you must be right i`m sure you always are,,,, well clayt was wrong too on prog pal and dont you just love to correct us wrong-uns,,,
We are imperfect to YOUR standards are we not,,,we are not worthy!

I guess my post was immature as YOU read it,,, YOUR choice,,,i dont read it THAT way but then,,, your reply is so mature RIGHT, you being the Hulk an-all "You wouldn`t like me when i`m angry[harsher]",,,perhaps you forgot your lines mate,,,or is it that my red and blue guns are off in my monitor hmm,,,

No need to throw ya toys out the pram luv !

I`m off to Hamleys now mate catch ya later :-)

RE: Progressive scan Ignorance.

Actually richard... No I dont think i was harsh,....I guess its how you want to interpret it really,.... which is YOUR personal choice.

You are correct.....It did get diverted from a simple question which,.... I ask myself? Do people actually read the post(s)???.
Clayts gave an answer which did Partly did relate to my original question and then it seems,.... it was derailed,.. as posts sometimes are :-(

The idea of my post was to see if someone HERE knew about MY Tv (Model # given) and,... the answer to a question i had...If the question was answered THEN i would have been wrong to say what i did. After going from site to site YES,...i`ve done the work myself AND,.. i`ve even been generous enough to even put it up for someone else incase they have the same Prob mate.
Thanks for the input,....seriously :-)

RE: Progressive scan Ignorance.

And the answer to my question IS:

Nobody has a clue Here!
It seems that my tv doesnt have prog scan on it as the later P model does so,... this is why it will not work. [just incase anyone out there is thinking the same].
Without being 100% accurate....A progressive scan dvd needs to plug into a TV that HAS prog scan internal circuitry in it. Just having Component video in sockets does not mean that it will display Prog scan DIRECTLY from a DVD that has Prog scan output. thanks for the help :-)

RE: Progressive scan Ignorance.

cheers clayts,.....im not sure whether the prog scan on the toshiba player is for ntsc discs Only though??? It says ntsc at toshies site,...I`d presume that means for ntsc discs but,.. if i bought a region 2 player then it wouldn`t play region 1 without a hack so,.... what would the purpose of ntsc be??? Excuse my ignorance.i`m a newbie to this jargon.

Progressive scan Ignorance.

I have a Toshiba TV its a 28ZD06B the 100hz model from last yr which,... has a component video input [which i understand is the best way to connect from dvd to tv].

I`m now interested in buying a dvd player and,... I have been looking at marantz and toshiba`s with both companies now offering cheapish players with progressive scan. After emailing toshiba and no reply,... is there anyone who could tell me whether the benefits of prog scan will work WITH my tv [is it suitable], or is it money down the Tube???

cheers for anyones help.......
