Lightning Bolt strikes again

9.58 seconds for the 100m.

Not long ago we were thrilled when sprinters dipped under 10 seconds, now Bolt`s around half a second quicker, isn`t that about a five metre gap from what used to be the standard?

Yegods.

I missed his Olympic run so can`t compare the atmosphere or the tension but my jaw literally dropped when I saw the clock yesterday.

This guy just seems to be able to go out and break records at will.

And he`s a entertainer too, not from the USA, and seems to do it all `clean` so what`s not to admire?

8)

And a big well done to Jessica Ennis too, great performance to take gold.

RE: 250000 - 300000 people will die today

Ok, so there are up to 30000 people who will die today and you don`t care about any of them.

Fine.

But you have the right to make jokes about the death of one of those 30000 regardless of causing offence to those who might feel some sense of loss or sadness, because YOU don`t think they should feel anything?

:/

RE: Embarassing Michael Owen dossier has been released

Surprising signing from Sir Fergie...wonder why

Ball boy shortage at Old Trafford??? ;)

I hope he does ok actually, though I dislike United as a club. He`s got a great goal record and it`s unfortunate if he`s only remembered (and in some quarters mocked) for his recent injuries.

If he did by some chance get into the team and score goals regularly maybe Capello would change his mind in time for South Africa.

It`s not as though England are exactly well-off for goal scoring strikers.

RE: Embarassing Michael Owen dossier has been released

The dossier must have worked; BBC Sport website now reports Owen is in talks with a view to signing for.... MAN UTD???? :o

Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) £17.99 at HMV

In the semi-permanent HMV online sale, the complete Granada TV series:

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=285;5;-1;-1;-1&sku=841705

Around £35 cheapest elsewhere.

This is the version with the better picture quality and the slim box, rather than the enormous thing taking up half one shelf of my bookcase.

EDIT: instead of starting a new thread, Amazon also have a box set sale (for a change) and have among others the Laurel & Hardy DVD boxset (the enormous thing taking up the other half of my bookcase) for £32.99 and David Attenborough`s complete set of `Life` dvds for £66.98.

RE: Embarassing Michael Owen dossier has been released

Sorry to interrupt but - Crouch possibly has a better touch, better at linking up play, but does that make him a better `footballer` than Owen was?

Not in my eyes.

There, I`ll go away again now. :)

RE: Customs... what`s the current limits?

Still only £18 value of goods before VAT is charged on postal/courier imports from outside the EC.

Customs duty isn`t charged on goods with a value of less than £120.

Plus the RM/Parcelforce (or other courier) handling fee of course if the package is charged.

Having said that, I recently had a couple of packages from Switzerland above the VAT threshold which weren`t picked for charges so maybe lower value items aren`t being stopped so much at the moment.

RE: 10

I thought the thread title referred to the mental age of the person posting it.

Whenever I feel like holding my hands up and saying well done to Man Utd, won more games, scored more goals, and conceded fewer than any other team in the division, usually someone comes along whose graceless attitude reminds me why so many people hate his club.

So thanks, Paull.

To the other Man Utd fans around here with a sensible approach, congratulations. You deserved it. Happy for Giggs especially. Helluva record.

David Attenborough `Life` collection - £74.99

At Zavvi -

www.zavvi.co.uk/product/659602//s.jsf

Haven`t seen it this low before. Perhaps there`s a new version to come with Life In Cold Blood included.

Believe there`s a Zavvi thread in Retailers Forum so might want to check that one before ordering...

RE: Danger Man - 13 disc set for less than £20??

Asda came up with the goods yesterday (what a great set :D ) while order status still showed processing, so maybe those who ordered from Hut and are still waiting shouldn`t give up.

RE: Ashes to Ashes - Was it on last night?

Having just watched it I was a little disappointed.
It`s a bit like watching a magic trick repeated after you`ve seen it all explained.
Something important is missing.
Thought Keeley Hawes was better than I thought she`d be, but the clash of two alpha males was an important dynamic in LOM. Remain to be convinced about the central relationship this time.
The shootout and motorboat just seemed to be thrown in for effect.
Wil keep watching but it has some ground to make up, IMO.

RE: Danger Man - 13 disc set for less than £20??

Am getting similar message from Asda, must have same supplier.

Should have gone to Woolies, obviously... :(

RE: Woodgate passes medical at Spurs

Curious sj, I posted a link on the BBC`s updated story from yesterday evening when Keegan said Woodgate wasn`t going to St James` Park, but the address defaults to the earlier story which you posted a link to..

It`s all too technical for me!

How`s this?

Or perhaps not:

Danger Man - 13 disc set for less than £20??

Checking my second favourite price comparison site - after Reviewer`s Pricecheck of course ;) - there seem to be four suppliers selling the bumper Network set of Patrick McGoohan`s classic 60s spy series for under £20. (Hut, Lovefilm, Asda & Woolies, with Tesco a couple of pounds more.)

Could be a pricing error I suppose, as most sites have it for at least £60, but thought it was worth a punt.. not used The Hut or Lovefilm for purchases before so chose Asda`s site at £17.93.

Great bargain - if it`s for real.

RE: NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREE.... YES THREE...

"That joke isn`t funny anymore"... (:¦

RE: A Wee Bargain of a Mobile for Xmas pressie

This Nokia`s going to be my mum`s very first mobile, as she`s pushing 80 she can manage without MP3s, cameras and wifi.

Good spot, Jimbo.

RE: POLL: Mayweather Vs Hatton Who Will Win

Didn`t see it as one-sided as the judges - well, a Brit was unlikely to get a points verdict against the US golden boy in his own backyard - but Mayweather showed he is different class.

Hatton is a great light-welterweight but it will take a truly great welterweight or light-middleweight to discombobulate Floyd.

RE: Customs question

Play I believe have an agreement with the respective Customs/postal organisations in Channel Islands and UK to prepay VAT at the time of purchase for their UK customers.

It may not be an agreement that extends to other EC countries, however.

RE: Some like it hot

Interesting info Stanz but so far as I know Monroe never got an Oscar, though she did get at various times an Arthur, a Joe, a Bobby and a Jack... ;)

RE: Alan Coren has died

That News Quiz in the sky must be hilarious now Alan Coren has joined Linda Smith on the panel.
(Assuming Linda was mistaken in being an atheist.)
R.I.P. Alan... :(

Another Hitchcock offer at HMV

1. Strangers On A Train (1951) Two versions 2. Stage Fright (1950) 3. I Confess (1953) 4. Dial M For Murder (1954) 5. The Wrong Man (1956) 6. North By Northwest (1959)

£9.99 at HMV this week:

http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?&sku=333930

Almost worth that just for The Wrong Man, underrated and quite neglected these days.

RE: What`s you`re mobile ringtone?? What phone??

For texts I have Messages by OMD. (Witty eh?)
For calls Valentine by Delays, though I`m thinking of changing it to Who The **** by PJ Harvey.
Oh, and it`s a W810i (he says, contentedly... :D )

RE: McLaren F1 hearing result.

Supposedly all the serious wrongdoings and heinous acts will be revealed tomorrow.
Said a Ferrari spokesman, trying to keep a straight face.
Nice little windfall for the governing body.
An appeal forthcoming?

RE: Hugh TV on DVD Sale at Amazon

Excellent spot johnsteed, 4 disc Larry Sanders compilation for about £15 including shipping. :D

RE: Best of ITV.com...

Catweazle... class. :)

RE: Columbo - Series 1 for £6.99

Blahdvd now have it for the same price, DVD.co.uk a quid more and either of these I would sooner rely on.

RE: I Claudius, Star Trek Animated

Cheers for post, but note that I Claudius is available from dvd.co.uk for only £17.99. This has all thirteen episodes on 5 discs.
