there are a lot of people who have purchased this liteon 5006 myself included who are not very impressed by this player. This player suffers from an intermittant fault of jerky pictures when watching tv throught the dvd player and also there are no rgb in despite the manual stating it has. I have tested this on my tv and sky plus and there is no rgb in. got mine from playade got two players from them in the end and only paid for one so sold the other one after 6 months as they hadnt asked for it back. you say you want to get a divx player but the plu2 is a divx player.

I have a plu2 player which i bought from ebay about a year ago. I had a problem with it not reading any disks so I reset it to default factory settings and this cleared the problem. On thing is now the player has defaulted to child restrictions in the settings. I have read the manual from cover to cover and cannot get the player to change to adult settings as i dont know what the default pin number is to change it any ideas please

the one in currys is the liteon 5001 which i used to have but this is just +r/rw disks not both.

the liteon 5006 uses the allright technology and can record both +/- disks and cdrs too it now comes with rgb and svhs plus stero tuner ( although not stated on the liteon site)

Liteon 5006 is out and it does have rgb and nicam tuner.

I had previous had the liteon 5001 and subsequently the 5005. I was very happy with the latter even though it didnt have rgb in . I sent the player back as it kept locking but now i have bought the next player/recorder the 5006. This supports Rgb via a fully wired 21 pin scart and does support a nicam tuner although the latter was not specified on the liteon site. I have found this out from my supplier svp and from other people who have this new player. i cannot give further details yet re performance as i am yet to recieve the player as i only orderd it yesterday . £185 from svp.

ok i guess i was wrong about the scart etc but i have checked with my friend in the states wwho confirms that it does have svhs in and out. she refered me to the following www.cdrlabs.com/articles/index.php?articleid=29 which is supplied by liteonamerica. this site confirms the usa criteria. Anyway I have since changed my liteon 5005 for the next model which does have rgb through scart and does support a nicam tuner so alls well. The 5006 is truely all singing all dancing. Now perhaps the people who were knocking the 5005 for lack of rgb and stereo tuner will leave us alone.

the us version does have rgb and i do use scart, My wifes friend in the states recommended me to the player as she has one and it does have svhs in and rgb . great player recommend it to anyone , the fact that it doesnt have a nicam tuner is not much of an issue to me anyway as i will only be using it to record from sky anyway or backup my vhs tapes.. the rf signal is crap round here that s why i got sky in the first place so i wouldnt need to record from tv

i have the 5005 and sky plus and the lack of rgb is not much of an issue and the picture quality is not affected much at all. Passess the wife test anyway. I use the svhs out on sky+ to a scart adapter on the 5005 and it works fine. If you can get the usa version that does have rbg .

the red/yellow/and white are normal video which will do but if your output device has an svhs cable then use that as the picture will be much better using rgb signal compared with normal pal using the other.

I had two of these devices which i took back because they were faulty. shame as it was a good player. I had my player connected up using the scart from the out of the sky box to the in box on the dvd recorder. i then connected the scart from the out on the dvd recorder to the in scart on the tv. I also had the svhs cable from the (out) sky box to the svhs (in) on the dvd recorder. i then connected the vcr using the phono cables audio red and white and video yellow from the vcr to the dvd recorder. the rf cable from the aireal plugged into the dvd recorder and then from the recorder to the telly. i also connected my digital camera to the player using the input sockets on the front of the player. I was sad to see my player go as it had a lot more going for it than the one i have got at the moment primarly the svhs inputs. hope this helps you.

philips dvdr890 still having problems anyone?

I have just returned my compacks 101 to woolies ( where i work) and have ordered a shop display model of the Philips890 for £137 . I get my player today. I am now a bit on the worried side reading of all the problems people are having on the player. I have a plu2divx player as my main home cinema player so I am just looking as a replacement of my vcr. I have noticed that people with the problems had posted their forums threads about a year ago. Have Philips rectified the problems now. I cant find any reference to the player on the philips site. Any help would be greatfully received.

You say you had problems finalizing a dvd-rw well the player is not designed to work with a dvd-rws as it is a dvd+rw recorder.

Can anyone help me remove macrovision on my compacks 101 I want to back up some of my old vhs copies and it wont let me on all of the tapes as it says they are protected. I rmember reading somewhere on this site about a firmware burn or remote hack to turn it off but I cant remember where . Can anyone please help I ve been to the compacks site and all I could find was the multiregion burn which I dont need as my other dvd player ( plu2 divx) is already multiregion hacked.

Setting tv channels on dvd recorder

:/ :/ I have at last set up my compacks 101 dvd recorder and worked out how to tune it in. Only problem is I cant work out how to put the channels in order ie 1 2 3 channel 4 etc. Can anyone help me and what does FC the channel mean?

compacks 101 and svhs cable queerys and mp3 problems

:/ I bought a compacks 101 and was happy with it until it locked the other day and i couldnt get my dvd out . The whole thing stopped. I work for woolies so took it back to where i worked where i got another player and my dvd back. My new player wont recognise the signal from the svhs cable from sky ( where it did on my other player) I also tried to copy vhs tapes and only some work. How do I remove macrovision. I am not bothered too much re multiregion as I have a plu2 player too which is already mr. Also i have tried to play my mp3s on disk but when i press next track it skips about 7 songs each time. Also when i enter play whole folder it only plays one track and then stops what am i doing wrong. My manager has offered my money back if i want it but i am not too sure . I was also considering the liton player/recorder from currys or the yamada from richer sounds but i am confused with all the conficting reviews. I have bought som many turkeys in the past. I would be happy to settle for my compacts if i new why the svhs cable dosent work. One final queery when the tv scans for the chanels and sets them they are all out of order. I can only get the channels in the right order if i manul tune / fine tune the channels which takes ages any ideas what i am doing wrong? please help soon as i am running out on the offer of a refund.

problems with remote on ony htk215

i have the sony htk125 and am extremely please with it. Unfortunately the remote has done a fubar on me and nolonger works despite new batteries. Its out of warranty now so anyone know where or how I can get it repaired?

any one else having problems connecting to bbci using broadband

i currently have broadband 600kps service via ntlworld and have recently noticed that i cant get onto the bbciconsole and get a grey pop up window saying that access is denied unless i use a isp from a long list. Ntl world is on this list yet i cannot get access. I have contacted ntl after hanging on for about 3 years and they keep fobbing me off as they say its down to the bbc. Please help anyone ? also i have ntlworld broadband set as my home page yet every now and then it defaults to the bog standard ntlworldhome page which is more irritating than harm really. Again i have contacted ntl and they blame my pc yet it is a brand new pc and broadband was installed by ntlworld engineer. This might seem trivial yet it can be annoying as the broadband home page has more links on it etc and has more access geared towards broadband. The problem seems to be sporadic yet my internet options have ntlworld broadband set as default ?

mix up on countdown of 100 greatest films of all time

taped the 100 greatest films of all time using sky+ last week and watched it back last nite. Problem is that the count down of the films seemed to go all over the shop and not appear in any numerical order anyone else notice this problem?
