Page 1 of philips dvdr890 still having problems anyone?

I have just returned my compacks 101 to woolies ( where i work) and have ordered a shop display model of the Philips890 for £137 . I get my player today. I am now a bit on the worried side reading of all the problems people are having on the player. I have a plu2divx player as my main home cinema player so I am just looking as a replacement of my vcr. I have noticed that people with the problems had posted their forums threads about a year ago. Have Philips rectified the problems now. I cant find any reference to the player on the philips site. Any help would be greatfully received.

I think you will find most people will only have an 890 in their system if Philips pay THEM to have it
