RE: Play.com....any good?
I have spent too much on Play and never had a problem till now. I pre - ordered a disc 12/12/02 date of release 13/01/03. I checked my account details on 13/01/03 stated it had been dispatched 9/01/03 great! Disc didn`t arrive checked account today and it now states I ordered the disc today and for £17.99 instead of the $12.99 I ordered and they stated they had dispatched it at on 9/01/03
I have cancelled this order and have to say I am shocked at this behaviour from Play.I don`t know whether what they did was legal or not but it certainly stinks.
RE: Looney tunes and Charlie Brown DVD`s-any sign?
According to Play, Looney tunes - the best of Bugs Bunny is due for release on the 17th February 2003 and other Looney tunes were listed with later dates. Sorry I cannot remember all the dates off hand. No details were given as to which were the `best` but I am hoping What`s Opera Doc? is one of them.

I pre - orded a two disc set from them it came out on the 5/11, was shipped on the 6/11 and I received it on the 11/11 and I chose the cheapest shipping option.

My collectors region 2 arrived this morning from Play and looks to be in perfect condition. I am well chuffed with it.After looking at the box I can understand the difficulties in packing.

My R2 set from Play is still packing! I guess I will have to email them too. As to Amazon delivery times I preordered a dvd from them in the USA it was released 5/11, shipped 6/11 and arrived 11/11.

RE: How slow are Splash DVD?
I have used them a lot over the past months and Play, when Splash did not have the DVD i wanted and had no problems with them. That all changed with my last order. In April i ordered Saving Grace and Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael. They arrived about 9 days later which is average delivery time for them.
I was suspicious of the Roxy DVD from the begining, the case was damaged on the front and just looked second hand and the DVD was loose inside. However, it was a sale DVD so if it played ok i would suffer the case. It wouldn`t play past the menu so i returned it by recorded delivery with a covering letter and email on April 23rd. No response from Splash so on May 3rd I sent an email asking what was happening they said they were out of stock but should receive new stock next week. I received the replacement today, strangely the case is damaged on the front in exactly the same place and way and the DVD will not play past the menu.
I guess it is no more orders to Splash from me.

I can only guess is the marketing strategy is to sell loads of the two disc set from August till September for those who cannot wait untill November or feel that the two disc set and price is sufficent for them. Either way I fully expect both sets to set new selling records. I guess I will wait untill November.

Close to the Edge, like you I do not have a preference for any one manafacturer and I agree with you that any manafacturer makes good and bad machines and often it seems to be the luck of the draw.That is why I will not buy from Scan. The sole reason being what if what I buy goes wrong? There are a lot of retailers out there who provide good after sales service without gambling on whether I have bought a problem free item from Scan. There have been too many posts from Scan customers whose after sales care has been diabolical.

Interesting saga of events! Was the Cyberhome that much cheaper online than from W.H.Smiths? Personally, unless there was £50 or so difference I would prefer to buy from a retailer I can discuss possible problems with face to face.
I bought a Cyberhome from W.H. Smiths 18 months ago and had absolutely no problems with it. However, before I bought it I discussed the machine with the manager (he stated he had one at home and had no problems with it) I was fully confident that he knew what he was talking about and that if I had a problem then the machine would have been replaced. In fact I have seen the manager subsequently and he asked if I was happy with the machine etc. Surely it is the responsibility of the retailer to issue a replacement and not Cyberhome themselves.

I have been waiting for this for ages. I had expected it to be released last November when the game was released. It is my son`s favourite movie and his birthday is June 3rd how odd is that??
I have only seen it once a while ago but I thought the quote was: " You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"?
Hope they make a good job of it and put together a good package a commentary from Michael Caine would be good.

Thanks for the information malcy. I can play region 1 but not RCE. I am surprised they are not out and also the early Peter Sellers comedies such as I`m All Right Jack and Heavens Above.

I have the Cyberhome N212 bought from Smith`s 15months ago and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It even had the instructions for making it multiregion with it.

I hope this hasn`t been asked before I can`t get the search function to function. The Ealing comedies,at least several of them were due to be released last July. Since then nothing - does anyone know when they will be released and why they weren`t?

I placed my first order with Play on the 25th of this month. I usually use Under 18 but they did not have the dvds in stock. So I checked Play they had the 3 dvds in stock so I ordered.Four days later it still says they are processing my order. I am not in any hurry but they certainly don`t process all orders of in stock goods within 24hours as per their claim.
