Scolling diagonal bars from my Sony DVPNS400 DVD Player

My Sony DVD is connected to my Sony widescreen via an S-Video cable. I get bars scolling accross the screen, these are more noticable on the Sony Intro screen. Has anyone any comments.

RE: Sony HTK-215 speaker positioning

My centre speaker also sits on top of the telly, with no problems at all. I have rewired the rear speakers, as the supplied cable wasn`t long enough. With a bit of careful soldering, I was able to use the connector.
Brill system.

RE: Is it possible to get surround sound for my Digibox and video, through my DVD 5.1 system??

Providing your TV/Video/Digi box all have the right out-puts, such as stereo phono, and that your surround system has the appropriate in-puts, then yes, you should be able to do this. But be aware that through any of these items, the sound will revert to Dolby Pro-Logic, and not Dolby Digital.

Good luck, and I hope you have many happy hours pulling your hair out as you tussle with all that spagretty.

RE: Sony HTK 215

I can also confirm that it does. . . Oh, and just incase your interested, I can recommend it 100%. A brill piece of kit. But then, it is a Sony!

RE: best amp for my tosh

I have the Sony HTK215, £267 from unbeatable.co.uk. I am very pleased with it.

RE: which A/V amp?

Try the Sony HTK215, small, cheap (from Unbeatable.co.uk) and brill.

RE: Digital 5.1 and NTL Digital

That was quick gingerone.

My amp will accept either optical or 5.1 (ie. 3 sets of RCA/phono). So my question was, which of these options is preferable?

Dave

Digital 5.1 and NTL Digital

Hi all,
I have just this last week connected up my Sony HTK215 amp, and well please I am too. However, I am a little confused as to the usage with my Digi Box from NTL. I would have thought that it would have been capable of passing on a digital signal to my amp. But it would appear not as there are only phono connections and a few computer links. So I con only listen in Dolby Pro Logic. Disappointing.

Whilst I`m here. Any thoughts as to which is the better connection to my DVD, optical/digital or 5.1

If anyone has any comments on either of these subjects, I`d love to here from you.

RE: Dolby Digital/5.1/DTS - Sony 215

Thanks for your reply. It does help. But just one other question. If DD and 5.1 are the same, then what about the hook-ups. I am currently using the opticle with a Toslink. Does this mean that the 5.1 phono connections between the DVD and Amp are not neccessary or should I be using them as well. My Amp has a button for 5.1. Its all very confussing!

Dolby Digital/5.1/DTS - Sony 215

I now have my Sony HTK215. And very pleased I am too. Call me stupid, but is there any difference between DD and 5.1, assuming all the right connections are made, or are they one of the same thing. If they are not the same, which of all three is the best option and what determines their usage.

Lovely piece of kit, plenty loud enough. Got it from Unbeatable and had to wait just over a month.

One thing I find annoying is that no-one makes it clear as to what kind of connections will be required. I had a Sony DVD which says it was digital/DTS. Only when my 215 turned up, I find that it needs an Opticle lead where-as my DVD only had Coax. Lukily for me, Argos happily changed the DVD for the next model up. So I was fortunate.

If anyone can answer my questions, I would be most pleased.

RE: why do sony and techtronic.com insist the sonyhtk215 is not dts?

Go to the Sony web site, and click on the Philippines. Look up the HTK215. The specs confirm that it is DTS, and I can only assume that it is the same as the UK spec unit.

I am currently waiting on Unbeatable for one of these units. They tell me that they are come in in dribbs and drabs. I am No37 in a cue of about 60 people.

Apparenty Sony UK have none of these and also more expensive units. I feel that they are being upfront with me, as I have tried other online companies, and they tell me at least 2 months. I have also tried a number of large Agos stores, and they too have no stock. . . Doesn`t stop me chomping at the bit.

Sony from Unbeatable.co.uk

I have been waiting about 3 weeks now for an order I placed with Unbeatable for a Sony HTK215. They tell me that there is a national shortage. Sony UK don`t even have them. So if you are waiting on Unbeatable, it doesn`t seem to be their fault.

RE: Unbeatable.co.uk

It would seem that I fall into this catagory, as my dear wife gave me a DVD for Xmas. Still, end of March seems a lifetime away.

RE: Unbeatable.co.uk

Sony HTK215 Surround System.
So I suppose I`m just going to have to be more patient. Still, it was a good price.

David

Unbeatable.co.uk

Last week I placed an order with Unbeatable for the first time. You all seem to be familier with them, how long will I have to wait, I`m champing at the bit here. I`ve tracked my order and it tells me they are awaiting stock from Sony.

RE: cheapest place for Toshiba 210e

Hi Jonno,
Have you tried unbeatable.co.uk. They are listing your Tosh at £159.97 + £7.99 delivery. Only thing is, I am not sure if its multi-regional or not. You would have to check. Good site though, worth looking at.

RE: Sony HTK215 Mini Amp Surround Kit

Dave,
My room is probably not that much different to yours, so thank for that.

Sony HTK215 Mini Amp Surround Kit

Hi all,
I am thinking of purchasing the Sony HTK215 kit. I like the fact that its compact and I like the price. However, I am a little concerned about the fact that its only 25W. Does anyone out there have any experience of this unit or do you simply have any useful comments to make.
Thank you
