Sony HTK-215 speaker positioning

Bowf (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 28th May 2002, 10:02

We`re,or should I say her indoors, is re-organising the living room meaning I`ll have to re-position the Sony speakers.
I`ll really have little option but to put the front L+R speakers more-or-less right hard up against either side of the TV.
The bumf says they`re magnetically shielded. I really don`t want to try the `suck it and see ` thing, wherein I wait to see if the TV picture goes funny. I really don`t fancy knackering the telly.
Anyone else got their`s very close to the TV ????

Oh...another thing...anyone tried changing the standard speaker cable for that wonderful looking flat self-adhesive stuff ??

I have my centre speaker (from HTK215) sitting on top of my tv and the picture is perfect.

About the speaker wire.....

Can you change the wire OK? It`s just that the speaker wire goes into the amp via a coloured plug.

i know it`s probably a crime but I`ve got both the L & R and the centre speaker stuck on top of my telly. Not noticed any affect on the TV picture. I only put them there when I`m gonna watch a DVD then put them behind the telly and put the wife`s Ladro ornaments back in place. I did try them on some speaker stands from Argos but they looked crap. The speakers not the Ladro!!!

My centre speaker also sits on top of the telly, with no problems at all. I have rewired the rear speakers, as the supplied cable wasn`t long enough. With a bit of careful soldering, I was able to use the connector.
Brill system.

Yep I`ve got the sub stuck out of the way behind the telly. Only problem is it`s a bit of a stretch to turn it on/off. One of those ornaments on the TV is bound to go the journey sooner or later.

Little tip for you mate, from someone who had to find a way to make things toddler-proof.
B+Q sell these wonderful little self-adhesive velcro pads. One pad goes on the object and one goes on the place you want it to stand.
Wonderful invention. Practically everything in my house from phones to alarm clocks to ornaments to speakers is stuck down with these. They`re not infallible but they save the little one knocking them over easily, or worse, the missus moving things out of position when she dusts..
cheers
