Last week I placed an order with Unbeatable for the first time. You all seem to be familier with them, how long will I have to wait, I`m champing at the bit here. I`ve tracked my order and it tells me they are awaiting stock from Sony.

There is a thread of a few days ago saying that Sony are having problems meeting the demands of internet retailers.

You may have to wait some time, unbeatable were one of the sites mentioned.

btw what did you order?

Sony HTK215 Surround System.
So I suppose I`m just going to have to be more patient. Still, it was a good price.

Other Forums have mentioned you should expect at least a 3 - 4 week delay and possibly nothing until end March !
It seems Unbeatable and other web traders are not receiving any 215s from Sony, they can`t cope with demand. It seems all those people who bought Sony DVD players at XMas now want this as the cheapest Sony 5.1 system.
I want to order this as well but am waiting until the stock situation is clearer. It seems only the high street retailers selling at full price have any stock such as my local Currys.

It would seem that I fall into this catagory, as my dear wife gave me a DVD for Xmas. Still, end of March seems a lifetime away.

Last year I was in the same situation. It was out of stock when I ordered it but I received one after a fortnight. Just make sure you have a connecting cable so when it does arrive you can hook it up straight away. The difference in price between Unbeatable and Currys etc makes the wait worthwhile. You can even take out a 3 year extended guarantee for another £30 and it`s still cheaper than in the high street.

I cancelled an order for the HTK215 through Unbeatable on Monday. I ordered 3 weeks ago, was given the 10-14 day delivery story, rang them after 12 days for an update, was told it was due in on 18th Jan. I rang on 18th and was told they`d had an order in that day that included all back orders. I waited a couple of days but heard nothing, so rang again and was told I was number 35 in a queue of 53, that the kit is `on allocation` from Sony, meaning that they are only coming into Unbeatable in small lots. They know Sony are struggling, they know they can`t fulfill orders for a couple of months at least, but still quote 10-14 days and give you bull**** when you ring to follow up. The price may be low, but they are less than honest with their sales. You make your own call I suppose - take the bull, wait 8 - 10 weeks and save £75, or go the Curry`s.....

Thrifty,

I agree with your comments, see mine above. Unbeatable also own my local Sony Centre in Horsham, therefore if you argue enough they will give you the same price instore. This is my prefered option as why should I pay £10 deliver when they are only 5 mins away ! also they only deliver Mon - Fri daytime to your home address and I work.
The only problem is they have never had any stock instore have been asking since end of Nov, and they keep on saying 2 - 3 weeks ! Their comment was must order online and pay delivery so they will add me to the queue. If it wasn`t so cheap and I had the spare cash I would have bought from Currys which I have to pass to get to their shop.

I placed an order for a Philips DVD player with Unbeatable and was only told a week later that that DVD player had been discontinued. But they have waived the delivery cost for the dvd player that I chose instead, which I thought was quite good.
