RE: NEW £220 PLAYER PRE-ORDER!

iron duke, where did u order the hitachi 505 from, and how much did it cost? anywhere i can c a review of the player?

Thanx.

RE: MAGIK99 & R.J.S READ IN >>

hey bedlam

All problems are sorted by the latest firmware upgrade u used 3.3

only in this firmware version have they sorted out problems with seamless branching such as in abyss and ID.

So RJS only upgrading to this firmware will sort all probs.

If u do this, could u re-review the player and give it a new rating??

Thanks

RE: MAGIK99 Read in m8 >encore AKA sampo >>

hey bedlam,

kewl the firmware downgrade and upgrade worked!!

with regards to ntsc recording i think RJS could be right in that the vcr must be multi-unit so that it can both play/record both ntsc and pal. ure best bet is to check ure vcr manual/or sharp website (if theyve got any nfo on ure vcr).

Sorry i cant be of any more help.

RE: need some help

thx for the info bedlam

ure rite in that the sampo 560e = encore dv450 = afreey 2060

all the specs and looks of the machines match up exactly.

The problem uve got is that the firmware is too new and that they have removed the macrovision option.

My suggestion to u is to downgrade the firmware to 2.0A (this enables the option of macrovision). Ive then been told that if u disable the macrovision option it will REMAIN PERMANENTLY. You can then upgrade ure firmware to the latest version which is 3.3 for ure player. The latest firmware for the player is a good thing is it resolves the lip-sync issues encountered on many R1 movies.

Also if u disable macrovision on ver 2.0A and then upgrade to ver 3.3 u will still have macrovision disabled (although u will not be able to access it from ver 3.3 loophole menu (but it will be stored)). Consequently, u should have macrovision off as well as an improved firmware that removes lip sync and other problems associated with the encore dv450/sampo 560 players!!! Hope this helps.

Let me know what u do and how u get on.

C ya

Also let me know what the remote hack is for ure player with firmware 3.0 for the following:

- loophole menu for selecting region
- ability to change between pal/ntsc output

Thx

RE: need some help

hey bedlam,

im interested in buying this player.

Where did u get ure unit from and how much did it cost?
Also the model u bought was it an Encore Dv450, what Sampo dvd player is this a re-badge of and also where did u get the idea that it is possible a re-badge of an afreey 2020 or 2060?

Ive been told that this encore dv450 should be region free and with macrovision turned off (is this true)? Also does the unit output RGB scart and how do u rate the picture quality and the overall player, whats mp3 playback like?

Thanks.

RE: Alba now only £140 at Toys R Us.

Does this player play SVCDs anyone?

Also what is the mp3 playback like? Good quality, poor?

Final thing, does it accept cd-rw media and what media (cd-r & cd-rw) does it accept/like and reject.

Thanks!

MICO A980 DVD MULTI REGION owners!!

Hi everyone,

has anyone got this player?

Does anyone know where I can get DETAILED information on this player as the www.unbeatable.co.uk website has minimal information.

Also are there any online reviews for this player? Or could someone point me to a forum/channel where this player is being actively discussed.

Thanks for your time.

RE: SCAN-2000 vs Wharfedale 750

Hi Gary,

Did u try the player with svcds/vcds, what was the quality like and what cd-r/cd-rw media does it accept. Is it fussy about the media or will it just play anything?!

Also with regards to them exchanging the player for you free of charge. Is the following correct:

- They will collect ure duff player from u at their own cost
- At the same time they will deliver a brand new replacement player (also free of delivery charge)
- Will u be getting this free replacement now or in August? As far as I am aware they claim that ONLY SOME of the players they have in stock are affected. If that is the case why dont they test a new player now and send out this working replacement immediately?

Your response to the above is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

Oh well looks like Im putting my purchase on hold then!! How can Scan continue to advertise and sell this product (especially on their today only page) knowing full well that the majority if not all of the players are defective in that the video connectors are faulty. They should in no way be offering what is known to be a faulty product. Other consumers who arent aware of the problems will buy this and then most probably have to return it (at their own expense). This matter should be looked into. What do others think?

I might consider the Mico A980, anyone got one of these, or know where i can read a few online reviews??? From what ive heard about it everything is good.

RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

Hey Rob,

Im thinking of buying the machine but keep putting it on hold as new problems seem to continually arise with it!!! Could you let me know what Scan say to u today (Monday) with regards to getting a replacement player, ie will u have to wait for next batch and will it cost u money to return it inorder to get the exchange (i mean delivery charges etc).

Thanks

SCAN SC-2000 Owners!!!! Someone pls help!!!

I am going to buy a Scan Sc-2000 player but ive got quite a few questions still unanswered.

The main questions are:

- does the player play Super Video CDs (SVCDs) without any problems?
- What cd-r/cd-rw media does the player accept and works with properly or whcih media does it definitely have problems with??
- Does the mp3 playback of the machine support files which are using VBR (Variable Bit Rate encoding)??? and what is the range of bit rate files it plays (i.e. between 128kbps - 320kbps or whatever).

Thanks a lot

Your help is greatly appreciated!

RE: No free delivery on Scan SC-2000 DVD Players!!!

Hi Mark,

well I havent spoke to staff at Scan since Saturday but like I said he definitely said no free delivery, maybe he is wrong? But when did you get that email from Scan (i.e. what day did they say "just a reminder, the scan player is back in stock tommorow at £159 plus vat FREE delivery.") Obviously I would like to get free delivery then, and you say u contacted Scan on my behalf regarding free delivery, what did they say to this?

Thanks

PS: You sure free delivery wasnt just on back orders??

No free delivery on Scan SC-2000 DVD Players!!!

Im just writing to say that I phoned scan and they refused to offer free delivery on the player as you lot had stated would be free on this site. They claim they stopped back orders over a week ago and free delivery at the same time.

I would just like to say if the facts could be checked out before they are posted here, because it makes customers look silly when they phone up claiming free delivery when its not available.

Scan SC-2000 price??

Hi,

I read on your review here that the scan dvd sc-2000 player is priced at £189 and will be dropping to £175. When will this price drop take place and who informed you of the drop in the price? If thats the case I might just hold on until the price is dropped. Any ideas behind the price drop anyone?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Who makes the SCAN SC-2000 DVD player

I checked intersavers site yesterday and sure enough the Daewoo DHC2200 model was there priced just under 170 quid, but I checked today looking to place an order and the model no longer exists in their product catalogue, anyone know whats going on??

Also Mark you said Scan`s player should be in today (12th) but the website says like 4 days still, I havent been able to confirm because the phones have been engaged. Any ideas??

RE: Who makes the SCAN SC-2000 DVD player

Hi Mark,

Im really interested in this player aswell. Are you 100% sure that the Daewoo player DHC2200 is 100% the same as the Scan SC-2000. The product pictures look the same and that but I wanna be 100% sure before commiting to buying. Also is there anywhere else I can get more information on this player. Ive checked Daewoo`s website and this product isnt even in their product catalogue!!!

Im looking for information especially relating to the units MP3 playback capabilities (ie what bitrates does it play, CDR and VBR etc). I also want to make sure that the unit will definitely play SVCD as I wish to back up my own mpeg2 streams to svcd and play them on this player.

Anyone help is greatly appreaciated.

Thanks in advance
