k m8 i flashed the encore dv450 to ver 2.0a got tyhe macrovision it had been set to auto, switched it off and reflashed it up to Ver 3.3,
and everything is fine.
The prob i have now is, if i try to tape a NTSC film it`s in Black and white and sort of twitches i`m using a Sharp tape player that has NTSC on it and it can get round Macrovision no problem when i`m doing a tape to tape and the TV is 36inch hitachi widescreen which has ntsc as well i seem to be stumped just now any ideas m8 i have the dvd player and the video connected by scart leads on line one.

thanks
ps. i can tape the pal dvd`s perfect

Are you sure your Sharp player supports NTSC recording? Usually they only support playback.

hey bedlam,

kewl the firmware downgrade and upgrade worked!!

with regards to ntsc recording i think RJS could be right in that the vcr must be multi-unit so that it can both play/record both ntsc and pal. ure best bet is to check ure vcr manual/or sharp website (if theyve got any nfo on ure vcr).

Sorry i cant be of any more help.

Actually so do we, our review unit is prooving to have some severe problems playing titles such as Independance Day. Having real difficulty getting any dialog going with Encore over it too.
