RE: Philips Energy Saving LightBulbs 5 for £1.00 in Sainsburys
The ones on offer at supermarkets always seem to be a really low wattage, or else everything on the shelf is edison screw!
I`ve found that the small 15W spirals from GE are great as replacements for 60W bulbs - same size, brighter and instant-on. Two for one at Tesco I think.
Also if you`ve got 150W bulbs in standard lamps, you can get a 30W replacement from Morrisons. Brightness seems fine after a short warm-up.
I`m still looking for properly sized candles and GU10 spot replacements which are as bright as the originals. Best I`ve found is the Megaman brand but they aren`t cheap and they are still slightly too big.

RE: Shure SE110 Sound Isolating Earphones in white half price (with code)

RE: PANASONIC DMREX75 TNT DVD Player & Recorder with 160 GB hard disk £263 at Pixmania
I have owned this model for some time, and my previous recorder was a Pioneer 520, similar spec to the 440.
In normal use there is very little difference between the two. The Pioneer has a separate Stop button for play/record, the Panasonic has only one, and the Panasonic has lots of yes/no boxes whereas the Pioneer just gets on with the job whether you meant it or not.
On the Panasonic, having freeview is a huge bonus, and remember in a couple of years time there will be no analogue in some areas. The HDMI makes a big difference to picture quality too, and it will upscale anything fed into the video in, so plug your standard cable/sat box in and the picture improves quite a bit.
The Pioneer has a slightly faster user interface but I had a lot of trouble with my unit, and a great deal of time & effort spent getting it fixed, enough to put me off the brand for life in fact.
In contrast the Panasonic has performed perfectly so far, never crashed or burned a duff disc for example.
As far as I know there`s no DIY multiregion hack for the Pioneer; there is for the Panasonic but you need the right kind of remote.
RE: Kingston 1GB SD card £7.29 @ ebuyer
Bought an ipod and some networking gear from them a couple of weeks ago; no issues.
RE: FREE £5 voucher for CDwow.!!!! Hurry !!!!
Worked for me, better use it quick before they change their minds!!
RE: Free DTS/Dolby/Stereo PCM test DVD from Bowers and Wilkins
The disc sounds great on my old Castles. Don`t skip over the interviews with the design team, there`s a lot of real information about how they design & optimise speakers. Shame they won`t apply the same techniques to lower priced models, I can`t afford these!

RE: Toshiba 32WLT66 LCD TV - latest model, award winner
great fredh, pleased to hear you saved that much :)
Hi Davidstoned, the branch phone number is 0161 491 4040. Other info at http://www.johnlewis.com/Shops/DSShop.aspx?Id=35 . They have a new drive-up collection point which they were still paving when I collected my tv. What else do you need to know ?
RE: Toshiba 32WLT66 LCD TV - latest model, award winner
Thanks sonylover but the one you found is the WL not the WLT. Yours is a different colour and does not have a freeview tuner.
I agree it`s possible to shave a few £ off the price I paid but the warranty is worth that. Also if I can find another non-internet shop with a lower price inc delivery, and in stock, they will refund the difference.

Toshiba 32WLT66 LCD TV - latest model, award winner
Just bought one of these from John Lewis, Trafford centre for £883. No need for haggling or price matches, this is the in-store price.
For those that don`t know, all TVs at John Lewis come with a 5 year warranty, which makes this the best price anywhere.

RE: Free Gillette razor.....

RE: 11W Energy saving lightbulbs at Tesco 47p
:)
Actually if you`re a Powergen customer you can get some free too, they sent me a pack of different types for nothing. And I didn`t have to trade in a pensioner.
Amstrad e-mailer at Tesco
I have no idea what these things should cost but Tesco have them for just under £15
11W Energy saving lightbulbs at Tesco 47p
GE Branded, in green boxes. They`ve also got silly prices on 60W and 100W pearl bulbs.
RE: Free Orange Sim...been out a while
This free sim deal .. how come Orange themselves don`t know about it ? Inside is a card which says "keep your number" and "upgrade your orange payg phone".
So I tried. I was told I couldn`t keep my old number, so in the end I just had them activate it. But there was no mention of the 300 texts / calls offer ? Have I been done ?

RE: Up to 70% off Best of British TV DVDs
It`ll be about £44 total
RE: Free Digital Radio From Schuh
Did anyone else get theirs? Mine turned up, it`s a cheap plastic thing with a digital display, earphones and even batteries but the sound is incredibly distorted, no wonder they were giving them away!
RE: Buying cheap in the US - advice please?
Bear in mind that you pay state tax if you live in the US; it`s usually 5% to 7%. And you can bring back goods to the value of £145 and you don`t have to pay duty; but if you have one item worth £146, you end up paying duty on the full amount. This is for things you personally carry, not things you mail order. This figure was supposed to be going up to £1000 but it hasn`t happened yet.
Where`s the bargain? OK try this - you can often find ads in local US papers, usually Sundays which contain vouchers with ridiculous offers. I used to get bargains from Office World, BestBuy and CompUSA. They are all based on rebates - in other words, you pay the full amount, mail in the receipt with the voucher and you get a cheque in the mail - but only if you live in the US. So get your mate to do that for you. If you can`t find vouchers in the papers, go into the store and look for racks of them on the wall just by the exit.

RE: Solaris, Minority Report and Planet of the Apes. £2.66 each at WHSmith
It`s showing as £19.99 on the website.
Dell printer for a tenner
Dell are again doing their 720 colour printer for £9.99 delivered. Except it showed as £9.87 when I looked. Anyway it`s cheap. Beware of the cartridge prices!
http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&kc=305&l=en&oc=720b&s=dhs&sbc=print_720
(remove the optional printer cable to get the low price)
RE: My best bargain this year so far...
OK this wasn`t this year, but it`s a good story. This was at a CompUSA store in Indiana. Encarta dvd $24.99. With a $20 rebate voucher. Minus another $5 for buying it with a mastercard. Net cost $ -0.01.
And yes, I DID get the rebate in the mail...
RE: Red Dwarf series 4 £7.44
If you`re after the entire set you should look for the "Just the Shows" packs. CDwow are doing volume 1 (series 1,2,3 and 4) for £29.99 which is £7.50 per series. I guess volume 2 will follow as there there another 4 series.
RE: Stock Clearance at thatzdvd.com
I have used them both for trading in and buying second hand. The condition of the discs I`ve had was extremely good. Only problem is they`ve stopped accepting anything other than R2 as trade-in.
RE: VIRGIN SALE better than HMV S***e...
I know you all love bashing HMV but it`s still worth a look. I replaced my old copy of Top Gun with a proper anamorphic one for £4.99, also picked up the Italian Job for the same price. Those titles are more expensive everywhere else.
RE: DVDSoon.com - 25% off all orders for ifidelity card holders
Don`t know if anyone else has noticed but DVDSoon have international shipping for free till the end of the year.
RE: 24 Season 1 & 3
I think customs make their decision based on the value written on the package. So its up to the shipper not to go over £17.99 - I know one who always seems to write $10 on the box no matter what I order!
