Nearly I think it's sitting there waiting for his X when he 's finished at the Euro's.

No armband but strikes me as someone who's confident and committed enough to do the job anyway.

AFC Bournemouth tried to bu**er that up but they appear to be playing in a different league now. 😉

It's looking like our first signing is going to be Ben White for around £50 mill.
Feeling very unexcited by this.
Prepared to be astounded and impressed when I see him play but I would have said there are higher priority positions and that seems a fair chunk of change given how many other slots we need to fill.
Still can't judge till the window shuts. Our needs aren't necessarily filled in order of importance.

What is on your list?
I feel like we need a centre back, defensive midfielder and playmaker.

I'd say priority is playmaker.
Even with what we've got I think we were something like the third best defence in the league, certainly since Christmas.
Centre back? WTAF are we doing with or about Saliba. £28 mill two years ago and he's never even worn the shirt. Now they're talking about another loan or even selling, feel sorry for the lad.
Who else depends on who's going but we need a back up for Tierney who appears a bit injury prone and the only alternative Arteta found at the end of last season was shifting Xhaka there.
I'm a bit concerned there's going to be too much change and it will really unsettle the side.
I also think Arteta needs to sort out the lack, total absence, of goals from midfield. I don't buy that every midfielder we have is unable to score. It must have something to do with what they're being told to do by him.
So pretty well every player is at risk apart from Saka, Tierney and please get ESR to sign the new deal.
Even Leno has made leaving noises so we may be buying the drug banned goalie who's pretty damned good but cheap.
I'm going to shut up otherwise this will be a very long post.

I think this has a lot to do with Xhaka, who just isn't good enough. I can imagine Arteta just told him to play the basics and not be fancy, because everytime he tried to be fancy he made a terrible pass that ended up in us being 0-1 down.
But the problem with that, combined with no natural playmaker, is everytime he gets the ball play slows down. And also, I think, it means we are rarely playing through the midfield at pace and end up trying to pass our way through parked buses most of the time.
A defensive midfielder who knows when to slow the game down, makes those critical play stopping interceptions, and can throw in the occasional amazing pass... oh gosh I mean basically Viera.
