...Hhmmm Walcott!
It was Walcott wasn't it?
I mean Lewis Hamilton hadn't snuck on in a 14 shirt.
Only he tackled someone!
They haven't rendered Flamini down and started injecting him into Walcott's bum while he's asleep?

Ozil's goal was wonder. Put me in mind of a training session where they run in and around those tin men. Watford's defence couldn't have been more stationary.

Not quite sure why Xhaka was doing a Tango pirouette while Watford scuffled their goal in but 3.1 will do nicely.
3.0 would have been better as I had a couple of quid on that.

Let's hope everyone comes back from the break in one piece and we can carry on where we left off.

Would be interesting to see what sort of deal Arsenal are offering clubs to take Wilshere on loan cos I can't think why anyone would do so unless it was a very generous one indeed.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

Arsenal fans love Wilshere, we think he's a great player, I doubt any of us would want to see him go on loan again.

Unless they'd offer to pay the medical bills.

Can anyone afford those?

Don't normally bother with these but this one raised a smile.

didn't see the whole match, just highlights on MotD.
looked like typical Saints, holding our own doing fine, but forgetting 2 things that everyone learns when the play football at school, play to the whistle, and the game's not over till the final whistle is blown :(

started off being annoyed with Long for missing a couple of "easy" shots,

then annoyed with him for falling over towards the end of the match near the corner, which was replaced with being annoyed with the linesman for not seeing it as our free kick, but then we all get annoyed with refs and their assistants for making wrong decisions, that's part of football.

but then furious, with Fonte, again thinking it's sensible to drag down an opponent, in the box to give away a penalty:(

Saw the whole match, a lot of how that match felt got left out of MotD highlights, so I'll summarise (hopefully with a minimum of rose tinted specs!)...

The ref was really poor, didn't see things he should have, gave free kicks for things that never happened, he even booked Cazorla for absolutely nothing at all, presumably because he mistook him for The Ox, because they look alike. And the things he gave against Walcott, were really quite impressively amazingly imagined.

Some Southampton players seemed to be going down very, very easily. Quite a few got booked for dissent, at least 3, maybe 4.

Fonte was definitely tugging Giroud's shirt, but I don't think it was affecting him, and I still don't quite understand what that penalty was given for. Was it Giroud falling over Fonte's legs straight after? Was very harsh.

From the replay, Monreal catching the guys foot looked a bit painful but I think you could debate that either way. Would be harsh not to give it, and harsh to give it.

Koschelny got a boot in the face, no malice or dangerous play involved, just him trying to head a very low ball in the 6 yard box.

Southampton keeper booked for time wasting quite early on. In fact I got the impression the Saints were content to take a draw with the outside chance of snatching a win.

Which is sad, that's not the Saints from the last few seasons, they were always a positive side that went out to win by playing good football. Probably why Long missed his chances.

All that said, despite Arsenal closing down space quickly, Southampton could have nicked the win at any point.

Mustafi looks like a good solid centre back so far! Too early to say much about Perez, needs time to settle.

Listened to most of the second half on radio as my stream kept freezing
Not a bad day when your centre back scores with an overhead.
Definitely biting my nails when Cazorla took the pen.
The overheard conversation on the terrace I saw Tweeted.

'Where's our midfield'?
'On the bench'

Probably had a lot to do with PSG on Tuesday.
Take the three points and move on.

I wonder if Brian Cox is aware that Forster has discovered a new theory of time.

I think the new manager and new players are needing some more time to get used to each other, which is a shame, we have 7 matches in next 21 days, which is a shock for us, domestic league, Europa league, and domestic cup, so he's trying a squad rotation to keep a good side for each match, this is new terriotory for us ;)

playing for a draw away from home to Arsenal sounds sensible to me, a bloke from work was going to it, he said he didn't expect us to win, but expected to see some goals :)

I'd have taken a draw before kick off and I'd certainly have taken one 40 seconds after.
Only seen the goals and heard the commentary on the radio and it sounds like we got away with one tonight.
Just think we were all getting p**sed off a couple of summers back because we missed out on signing Cavani. Looks like we dodged a bullet there.
Giroud needs a serious slap for getting sent off. The points been made on Twitter. He's 30, a French international and established player in our side for a few years.
Swallow it and walk away.
I would say we should be able to manage Basel without him but this is Arsenal and our ability to extract failure from the jaws of victory is becoming legendary.
Seems Ospina deserves a name Chec (see what I did there )  as he kept us in it several times.
We need to improve considerably if we're going further than the last 6 years.
