CD-wow have been told officially to raise their prices by £2 because of the BPI. :( Although still cheaper than the high street, is there a reliable alternate site which will be cheaper than the newly inflated CD-wow prices??

If you look at avforums website there is away of getting £2 off Cd`s and £2.50 off DVD`s

should BPI be refered to DTI for anti competitive practices for forcing CD-WOW to do this...

That is the way both consumers and cd-wow can get around their price hike. That is to regularly supply lots of vouchers and stuff like that

Unfortunately this will cost CDWow money, as they have been forced to buy more expensive CDs in the first place. I seriously doubt they can afford to lose money on each transaction. The best way to show these BPI arseholes who`s boss is to file share the s*** out of your music. The w***ers get f*** all that way.

I thought prices were due to go up Sunday night, but they still look much the same to me. However, I did order The Rolling Stones 40 Licks album last night for £6.99 (or £4.99 with vouchers), and today it`s not listed in their charts at all - although it comes up at £10.99 on a search!

i dont think they will be forced to buy expensive cds - as far as i can tell they will still supply the cheaper ones to the uk but there will just be a surcharge of £2 - i am extrapolating this from their email about the price hike saying that all other countries are not affected - it would be silly to set up two warehouses - one for the uk and one for others just to supply different cds (as dvds and games are not affected)

I think the BPI have to realise that if CDs are cheaper, there is less pirating and folks buy more CDs.

Personally, if I hear an intersting track I tend to buy an album by the artist to hear more. When you can pick up a CD at £7 or so it isn`t worth messing around ripping your own. Also tend to buy a lot of old stuff because the price has been good from CD-Wow.

So what happens now? I will be buying less CDs. I will listen tracks on the web rather than buying on impulse - I`ll think twice. Suggest the BPI do the same.

Prices now increased - it comes up with the £2 charge when you go to pay.
