splashdvd?

brian.w (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 6th January 2004, 23:34

Hi everyone just wondered if anyone out there has used splashdvd to order dvd`s and if so what they thought of there service etc.

I ordered a dvd on the 22nd dec 03 and payment was taken 23rd dec 03 i have emailed a few time with probably one maybe two replies from heaps of emails, last one i got said it was not in stock and they are trying to get hold of it.

Then why did they take my order if not in stock and also why take my money so soon, most other companys dont charge until its shipped.

I have been emailing again and have been getting no replies and even went on the phone and waited and waited on answer phone and i got fed up anf hung up, can anyone tell me if they have been having same problems.

its my first order with them and after i get this probably my last as one not only has the price of the item lowered since i purchased its a joke to have waited so long.

i would like to hear from other about them.

Try the Retailer Reviews forum. Most people bitch about them but I`ve had no problems in the past year or so that I`ve been using them.

I think the problem with Splash DVD is they don`t always have the item in stock and it can take extra days, weeks or even months for them to deliver (usually well beyond what they quote on the Web page for the particular CD or DVD). When they do have the item in stock, they`re reasonably quick to deliver, but I`ve been stung several times by the out of stock scenario (note that they often don`t say "out of stock" on the Web page - you have to work out that "Despatched within 24 hours" means in stock and anything else means out of stock).

I had "Dawg" (bad Liz Hurley movie) on order for 6 months with Splash DVD before an e-mail from me finally nudged them to restock and send it to me. I currently have an Anna Waronker CD that`s been 4 months on order and
"The Complete Clangers" that`s 2 months on order. My suspicion is that they won`t restock until multiple orders for an out-of-stock item come in (or at least "X" items to be ordered from the appropriate distributor come in), because I can`t believe some DVDs or CDs aren`t available from a distributor for months at a time (and if they are, shouldn`t they try to source them from somewhere else?).

Ordered two sale items on 1st January. Arrived today. Not bad at all.
I`ve only had one problem with Splash, when they sent me some DVD-Rs instead of DVD+Rs. I tried sending a couple of e-mails and had no response, so I just followed the instructions on their website for the return of goods, and all was fine.
Despite some concerns, I will continue using them because their prices are very competitive.

I orderd a sale item at quarter to twelve midnight on the 7/1/04 and got e-mail back with order details, checked my e-mail at 9 am next morning 8/1/04 got another saying the item had been dispatched and should be with me within 3-5 days...we shall see! :)

The Fifth Element/ The AByss/ Aliens R2 all three for £9.99 not a bad buy.

Oscar.

I reported them to trading standards, they annoyed me far too much...mysteriously my items were very quickly despatched!
