RE: Toshiba EP-35 down to £149.99 at Amazon.co.uk

Note the further reduction of £10, to £139.99.

Toshiba EP-35 down to (EDIT) £139.99 at Amazon.co.uk

As per title (was a tenner more two days ago when I first posted this).

Also, anyone who has bought this from Amazon in the past 30 days should use the help section to email them to ask for their partial refund of £50 as per Amazon`s 30-day price drop policy.

RE: Toshiba ep30 massive drop on play

Down to just under this price on Amazon.co.uk now too.

Anyone who has bought this from Amazon in the past 30 days should email them to ask for their partial refund of about £42 as per Amazon`s 30-day price drop policy.

RE: BOGOF on HD DVD @ Amazon.com

Yeah, that can be a slight hassle but you can claim back the Vat and Royal Mail handling charge easily enough (took me about two weeks when it happened with another US retailer that had put the wrong value on the customs label).

RE: SVP Buyers` Club 99p Delivery

I`m very surprised to hear you`re having problems with SVP.

I`ve used them for years and they are one of the best companies I`ve ever dealt with. Good prices and great service.

Also they don`t stick the arm in with surcharges for Northern Ireland deliveries, unlike some of their competitors.

RE: New DVD player - bout £100 - reccomendations???

I recommend the Asda one. Picture quality is great over the HDMI connection and mine was multi-region out of the box.

No HDMI lead is provided but you can buy that with a tenner of the £70 you`re saving.

Note that this player is going up to £37.97 on Tuesday (£29 is an introductory price).

RE: 10% off at TheHut.com for 24 hours

Thanks for that. I`ve ordered the DVE essentials calibration doodah for what seems like a good price.

RE: Any HD DVD owners here? If so, what do you think. Put your reviews here!

Just looked this up and it seems to confirm that 1080p is indeed available over VGA.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/

The USB connection between the drive and the Xbox is just carrying data so I don`t see how it would degrade the video quality.

Just my humble interpretation and if anyone knows more about it than I, then please let me know what`s what.

RE: Any HD DVD owners here? If so, what do you think. Put your reviews here!

Just noticed this thread and must ask about something Ben Franklin posted at the start.

He said: "I`m sure it would look better through 1080p (if the drive actually supported that)."

I thought the drive (and the Xbox 360 itself) both supported 1080p but through VGA only.

My TV isn`t 1080p anyway so I have the Xbox connected via component for now. However, I will be buying one that is 1080p soon so I`d be interested to see how others have got on with this kind of setup (what you tell the Xbox to do etc). I`m likely to buy the 1080p Samsung LE40F71BX that`s on www.play.com for £999.99.

Forgive me if this takes the thread off topic. I think I`m just about staying on topic with this.

RE: NEw E2Save & OSPS 12 months free deals

Thanks for this - and good to hear from you Reestit!

RE: Xbox Ultimate Travel Pack 29.99

Glad to know I`m not losing touch with reality then!

Shame I missed out on this bargain but I hope that everyone who did get one enjoys theirs.

RE: Xbox Ultimate Travel Pack 29.99

I`ve just noticed this seller`s wacko reply to my feedback.

I left the following for him (pretty much what I said on here at the time): "After 7 days item had not arrived so I emailed seller as advised in confirmation email. No reply, then got refund next day with message `sorry, no stock`. Item is still listed as `in stock` from this seller on Amazon website. Disappointing."

Seller Response: "Rubbish, you emailed us to CANCEL and demanded REFUND - yes we have them in stock, but you wont be getting one from us, go elsewhere and pay £79.99 !! LOL"

Why on earth would I change my mind, ask to cancel the order and then complain when they gave me a refund? Surely I would have given them positive feedback in that instance.

And surely I wouldn`t then still want to try to order the same thing (as the seller bizarrely promises they won`t be selling me one).

I wrote my feedback in a factual and honest way.

Looking at the other negative feedback and this person`s responses, I think they just can`t take honest criticism.

This is the email I sent him to enquire about where the order was. I think it was done in a friendly way:

"It has been seven days and I haven`t received my order so I`m contacting you as you advised in the confirmation email.

Has the parcel been dispatched and if so, using what method? Please provide a consignment number if there is one.

Thanks in advance."

Am I missing something here, folks?

RE: Xbox Ultimate Travel Pack 29.99

Emailed seller yesterday (as the confirmation email instructed) because order hadn`t arrived after seven days.

No reply, then today I got an email from Amazon saying my credit card would be refunded in full.

The attached message from the seller was an annoyingly brief "sorry, no stock". Sounds like BS, given that Amazon is still listing this item as in stock from this seller.

If stock really has run out, then this seller should say so on Amazon and stop accepting orders for it.

RE: CD WOW pre xmas sale

Deadwood series two is there for the same price - on page 10 or thereabouts.

RE: WHICH IS THE BEST CAMERA PHONE FOR UP TO £100?

Are you looking for sim-free or are you taking out a new contract?

You can pick up an ultra-sw***y Sony Ericsson K800i (with 3.2 megapixel camera) on O2 or Vodafone for around £60 when taking out a new contract costing around £20 per month.

RE: Nokia N80 vs SE K800i

The K800i is also 3G, which was not mentioned in the earlier comparison post.

After having a W800i for almost a year, I`m getting one next week, mainly because I use the camera a lot so I was sold by the idea of higher resolution, better flash and cool `bestpic` feature whereby it continuously takes photos so you can choose the best of 12.

RE: Looking To Buy A Cheap Nokia Or Flip Top PAYG, Anyone Know Of Any Good Deals?

Nokia 6030 on O2 PAYG (inc £10 credit) is £69.99 inc free standard delivery from Carphone Warehouse website.

Just picked one up for my mum this week and she likes it. Nothing fancy, just a nicely designed (although non-flip) phone with a colour screen.

EDIT: I picked it up for £59.99 earlier this week but it has gone up by a tenner so not such a good price.

£5 CDWow voucher with Sunday Express today (June 4)

Don`t think I can post the code on here but it`s a redeem-online offer.

You get sent the voucher within a week or so.

I suggest nipping down to the newsagent`s and noting the code rather than buying that rag itself, unless you like naff stories about immigrants and the royal family.

RE: free £8.75 voucher from CDWOW

Quality! Thanks very much!

RE: TESCO 20% off charts dvd & games - this week only

Thanks to the OP.

This offer is very handy for picking up any PSP games that are in Tesco`s chart at around £30. Six quid off makes them among the cheapest around, if not the very cheapest.

RE: Norton Ghost

Thanks again. I went for the 80GB Samsung one PC World are selling for £69.99. Now for that enclosure...

RE: Norton Ghost

A prompt, superb and comprehensive answer to a long and ignorant question! Thank you.

The one thing I`d like to make sure I understand is point one:

"Your replacement drive will have the same type of "minature" IDE conection. Ignore SATA."

Do you mean `ignore` in the sense of `it makes no difference and any laptop drive will work with a fairly new laptop`?

As I understand it SATA just refers to the data transfer speed and not a different miniature connection with different pin layout or whatever. Is this right?

RE: Norton Ghost

I think this is the right thread for this query but I`m not quite sure.

I have a relatively new laptop that came with a 40GB Fujitsu 4200rpm internal hard drive (model MHT-2040AT).

I want to buy a new 2.5in drive (60GB or 80GB) as a replacement and then use the other in a `camera buddy` device such as this.

I`m not exactly sure what I`m doing so perhaps you guys could advise me on the following:

1. The Fujitsu site says my drive is ATA-6. Does this refer to the way in which it is physically connected to my laptop`s motherboard and if so, am I restricted to ATA-6 drives as replacements? If not, which other types (SATA, EIDE etc) are compatible? These letters mean nothing to me I`m afraid!

2. With the connection type in mind, is there any way to know whether I could use my Fujitsu drive in the model of camera buddy above?

3. If I get the first two issues resolved, is it possible for me to do an exact copy (is this what `ghosting` means?) of the old drive on to the new one so that I can just swap drives and my laptop will continue working as normal without having to reinstall Windows XP and all the other software I have on it?

4. If so, is this free version of Paragon the right utility with which to do it?

5. What way would I go about physically connecting the new drive when performing the exact copy? I have a couple of USB enclosures at home but at the moment these are used for 3.5in hard drives. Would they be suitable?

Sorry if I have gone off-topic or hijacked your thread. As I said, I`m not sure whether we`re talking about quite the same thing as this is a bit new to me but I figured you`d be the right people to ask.

Thanks in advance,
Jon

RE: Golden Wonder in administration !?!?

There is still hope for the employees.

Tayto are in talks to salvage the rest of Golden Wonder. They seem very keen to buy more than the division they`ve already acquired.
