Tablets for grown ups

(Cue posts of Viagra pills)

Following on to other thread I'm just curious how many, if any, folks on here have something other than an ipad and if they're happy with it.

Rightly or wrongly I get the impression that this is a far more concrete choice in Apple's favour than with phones.

Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

a bloke at work recently got an Asus something or other, he got it in John lewis, i think rrp was 130, but there was some sort of cash back so he got it for about 100

I can find out more of the exact details if you want

anyway, he's really happy with it, especially value for money. interestingly he owns a macbook, and iphone, but didn't see the point in spending the extra money on an ipad.

i had a quick play with it, seemed ok, but I've never used a tablet for any period of time.

Thanks from: pat-w

I don't have an iPad.  I can't imagine not being able to just plug it into a PC, drag and drop files etc.  And add an SDcard.  Or a microSD card.  Or a USB 3 HDD etc. etc..
I have the Asus Transformer TF701.  It's great, and very quick.

I've had about 10 android tablets, never owned an apple tablet & probably never will.
I still own a 10" Asus tablet with a detachable keyboard but I don't use it much, i prefer to use my samsung 8.4 tablet. I think it's called a "Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro". (on offer at John Lewis I think)
Its the perfect size for me, light weight, very high screen resolution, I use it with a Google Chromecast & an Amazon Fire.
The most important feature for me when looking at a tablet is micro sd card storage.
A 64gb micro sd card is under under £25 at Amazon.
Apple won't fit a card slot so I'm never gonna buy their products.

i did have an ipad... soon got very bored of it tbh.

call me old fashioned, but i much prefer using my laptop for the
internet and stuff. like having physical buttons and being able to
bang in a CD / DVD etc.

as good as a tablet is (for many), i can't see one replacing my laptop
any time soon. M$ seem to be predicting the death of them with their
new Surface Pro device, but it's way too expensive imo.

those Hudl 2's look pretty good, decent size, display, useability etc and are only £130ish.

Interesting replies.
It's one of those things I'm not entirely sure I've got a use for but may end up indispensible if I got it.
Hudl 2s get a good review but they're very Tesco apparently. A bit like the old AOL I gather. Useful if you're a Tesco customer maybe but ultimately bloody irritating.
Had a quick play with one in store the other night. Seemed quick enough but no film or TV stuff on it so couldn't see what playback was like.
How quick do these things fire up? It's one reason I don't use my old Netbook that much as my tea's cold before it's started up.

Instantly, they are always on, like your phone.
