dkuk2000 (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 21st November 2010, 20:35

About 8 months ago i set up my brothers sky broadband, Now he wants to connect his Wii to it ,However he has thrown away the letter with his routers password >:( , Is there anyway apart from calling sky and holding for 45 minutes to find out his password via his PC ?.
Edit: forgot to say it`s a wireless router.

Find out ip address and default username/password to access the router settings where you`ll find the wireless password. What is the make of the router ?

Not sure if this will be helpful but, If he didnt setup a newpassword and the router is still on the default password try, admin or password or epicrouter

almost definitely not, unless it`s the default one.

there is a thread somewhere where some-one asked same question, I`m sure they didn`t do it, even tried tech support for router company in case there`s a back door account.

i misunderstood, I thought you meant the password to login to the router, rather than use wireless.

Again, I`m slightly confused.  Do you need the admin password to the router control screen or the network password?  The network password for a Sky router is usually printed on a label on the underside of the device alongside the SSID number.  You log on to the router via web browser pointed at 192.168.0.1 as "admin" with the password "sky" for Netgear and Sagem routers.

It`s the network password he needs, I`ll give him a call this evening and get him to check for a label on the router.
thanks guys

If all else fails can you do a factory reset & start from scratch?
