The Stranglers get throttled!

I was unfortunate to hear on the radio today that `Golden Brown` has been royally f*cked by some tosspot.

I remember Brit soul singer Omar murdering it a few years back, wasn`t aware that someone else has had a go too.

is it even worse than the red nose day version of Aerosmith`s "Walk This Way"?

When Steven Tyler was asked what he thought about it on R1, all he would say was "it`s for a good cause".

truelly is terrible though :(

I think its jamelia (sp?) and yeah its awful

As for the walk this way cover ..even if its for a good cause I wouldnt buy that s***e if you paid ME Id rather send the cost of the CD to comic relief on the understanding they destroy 1 copy on my behalf ..if we all did this then it would ensure it will be destroyed forever and hopefully never mentioned again.

Chris Moyles suggested that when you go to download it from iTunes, you should have the optin to give the money, but actually get a track of silence :)

Golden Brown? Wow....I remember running in to watch Top Of The Pops and seeing that it was number 1! I then proceeded to run out and carry on playing footy in the street with my mates. Seems like yesterday.......!?!

Yeah, it`s "No More" by Jamelia, which is based around Golden Brown.

It`s pretty unlistenable.

I`m no fan of R&B (whatever that actually means these days) let alone Jamelia, but preparing myself for the worst, I must say I was presently surprised! I can`t imagine any Stranglers fan would expect anything close to the original from an R&B act anyway, and lets face it a reworking, or sampling of a song is (artistically) `better` than a karaoke style cover surely?
As has already been implied, the Omar (karaoke) version from a few years back was pure cakababa, and the original survived that. So in months to come, when Jamelia is in the identity parade on Never mind the Buzzcocks, this will all feel like it was just an awful dream.

It could be worse - they could re release Paul Young`s fudgkin awful rendition of Love Will Tear Us Apart - now that was a travesty!

Live a life you love, use a god you trust, and don`t take it all too seriously
