Currently addicted to... Nerina Pallot - Everybody`s Gone to War

Caught it first on MTV brand spanking new or whatever the hour is called, video was great, tune was great, instantly obsessed with it!

And she turned out to be English, which was a shock, as the track is quite American girl indie rock.

Nice track, but the anti-war political statement under the peppy tune leads me to believe the message will fly straight over the heads of many.

...if it doesn`t go over their heads, the fact that it`s all been done before and there`s no new messages she`s giving us, means that unless she comes up with something original, her career will be fairly short....which is a pity as she`s a fox.

Lyrics are also a bit cringey "Don`t tell me it`s a worthy cause,No cause could be so worthy" Fighting the Holocaust was a worthy cause.

"Lives in the Balance" (Jackson Browne) was a good protest song, written in the early eighties, but still holds up true today.

Neil.

I think it`s;

Quote:
They tell us it`s a worthy cause, no cause could be so worthy
and it`s meant sarcastically, as if to say the `illegal` war in iraq is a nobler cause than fighting said holocaust

I really like her voice but I don`t know why - sometimes it sound a bit like Sheryl Crow.

I remember that `Lives in the balance` - heard it first on an episode of Miami Vice called `Stones War`, I still have it.
