Hi guys,
I`m trying to play my discs that i recorded from my old sony dvd recorder on my new panasonic dvd recorder but they won`t play, i think it`s because i never finalised the discs. Any one got any advice? BTW the sony packed up so it was scraped.

cheers
neil.

Put the DVDs in a recordable DVD drive in a PC and you may well be able to read and finalise them.
If you can read them with a PC, you can at least recover the files and burn them onto another DVD at your leisure.

Sometimes different software is needed to read some media. I have had to Roxio EZCD to read/finalise a disc that was unreadable prior to installing Roxio EZCD. Try another writing program and it may work .

If you get no joy with this line of thought, try taking your unfinalised discs into a Sony Centre and ask to finalise them on a machine running the same firmware as your one did. Tell them the model - they`ll know.

They probably won`t finalise them for you, as they won`t want to accept liability if it goes wrong, but they SHOULD allow you to do it, seeing as the discs were recorded on a Sony machine.
