The title says it all really but does anyone have any info / opinions on the widescreen set that Tesco are currently doing at 199 (or so I`ve heard). I`ve had a quick look on the wharfedale site but couldn`t find much out really. I`m trying to get a widescreen on a budget and could with some advice!!!!

Cheers

I heard they had some at Tesco in Bar Hill, Cambridge. I think it may be a Tesco extra or something like that.

Does anyone actually own one of these and are they NTSC compatable? is the picture quality that bad??? really wanted to get this as an entry set on my limited budget to use with my PS2 for both DVDs and games.

Hope I`m not too late with some info here.
My mate has one, and my brother has one as well.
They`re not great, but for £199 what d`you expect I suppose ?
Problems are roughly as follows.
1/ Remote is really nasty. Really really nasty. Half the buttons don`t give any clue as to their function.
2/ Casings both buzz, or speakers distort, when volume is turned up
3/ It only has 16:9 or 4:3 settings. No auto or panoramics settings. This means that non ` proper ` widescreen transmissions, and some genuine widesceen transmissions to be honest, look decidely odd. All distorted and squashed and difficult on the eye.
The actual picture quality is fine though !
The only way I can sum these up is that both people wish they hadn`t bothered and wish they`d waited until they could afford better.
Hope this gets to you in time !

Cheers for the info Bowf. I haven`t chased this yet as it`s actually a mission to get to tesco`s for me. Sounds like I may be better waiting a while and saving a little more cash on these remarks. Do you know if its NTSC compatible though??

I have seen this tv in tescos 2 days ago and it is £269 not £200 unless they have reduced the price in your local store ???
Actual set looks ok for the money but remember you get what you pay for. Personally i think anything with only 4:3 & 16:9 is a complete waste of time and would save up to get something with more screen modes.
