Went out today looking for a flatscreen 28" tv, but instead fell in love with a Samsung 17" LCD tv (£940) - Clear, sharp and soooo stylish. But what I know about LCD tv would fit on the back of a postage stamp. 17" is too small, but I can`t seem to find any thing in the 24"+ range for under two grand, has anyone got any recomendations? How much will the price drop if I`m prepared to wait it out for another 12 months?

IMHO the technology is not quite ready to splash out on yet. Wait about a year, the prices will drop and the picture will be better, clearer with better speed rates.
Thanks for the reply, 20" isn`t really big enough to float my boat (!) I suspect I may have to wait and save, although my aging Matsui has got so blurry that anything with subtitles is ruled out.
Any other takers on this question? (apart from telling me to invest in a few lottery tickets!)

I think you will have to wait longer than 12 months for the prices to drop. So if you must buy, just buy now.
But your main problem (and the reason why prices will remain high) is that LCD technology has yet to make it to bigger screens (it will therefore remain an expensive small screen toy). They appear to have problems actually making the bigger size screens due to the liquid crytal. The solution won`t be cheap.

this is not totally true as sony have a 50" lcd t.v on the market which got excellent reviews and i was very impressed to ( although a big room best suits it).. Its been out for a while now and it was £6995 rrp without its huge glass stand. But a good search on the net and i.ve found one for £3445 with the stand.... I know £3.5k is alot for a t.v. but at half price with the £500 glass stand ...a snip!!! I own a 36"" sony crt t.v. and this t.v. has equally good features.. multi screen ratios..50/100 Hz.. and it looks the doggs.
There`s a Sharp Aquos 30" lcd, but it`s about £4,500! There`s also the Samsung LW40A1 which is lcd and 40",daren`t even ask how much that sells for! LG are bringing a 43" flatscreen out in September which will retail for about £2,300, not sure if it will be lcd but it`s apparently very light and only 35mm thick. As for me, I think I`m going to have to resort to something less expensive, Thanks Kaz

regards to 50" sony.......yes it is rear proj..
ONE QUESTON.....what is best LCD or plasma . both are roughly the same price?? Most plasma screens dont come with t.v. tuners .. if i was to get one without a tuner and connected via a scart sky+ then i shouldnt need a tuner..right? cos with scart it skips the t.v guts and puts it straight to the screen.. cheers.......
