EE re-introduce roaming charges in Europe

This was them in January:

"Our customers enjoy inclusive roaming in Europe and beyond, and we don't have any plans to change this based on the Brexit outcome. So our customers going on holiday and travelling in the EU will continue to enjoy inclusive roaming."

And now:

Those joining or upgrading from 7 July 2021 will be charged £2 a day to use their allowances in 47 European destinations from January 2022.

O2 have also said they would be introducing new costs for roaming in Europe.

This is basically the thin end of the wedge. All operators will charge soon and I'm betting they'll return to higher basic charges too, not just one-off costs in the years to come (it was so lucrative for them before it was banned in an EU agreement).

I have a feeling that if they'd have been more honest up front about this, such a 'simple' thing could have had a different Brexit result.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

It was a very close result, and polls now show that it would still be a close result. Leave voters are not going to agree it was a bad idea anytime soon, and Remain voters have yet to see a single positive from it.

We are still a divided nation and will be for some time. Which is basically what Russia wanted, and still wants, and spends so much of its time trying to maintain.

Brexiteers don't care, Brexiteers don't want to go to Europe. Except the father of the PM who wants a French passport, but it's okay for him to go to Europe anytime even during lockdowns.

Also, the army might be driving trucks because we don't have enough people driving trucks, because of Brexit.

The army can provide 2000 drivers to drive trucks There are 100,000 drivers needed Approximately 6-7000 trucks a day come in from the continent to tip in the U.K. then Wait for a reload ( or head back empty ) There’s your solution . Use them and they earn whilst over here

As suggested on Twitter...

How many of the 2000 army truck drivers are reservists who's day job is (already) driving trucks...

Giffgaff (who are basically an offshoot of O2) are now changing their rules on roaming data charges in the EU.

I was recently sent an email that seemed to suggest that as long as you were in your Goodybag limit, data would remain 'free' (or course, you've actually paid for this data).

I now read there will actually be a 5 gigabyte limit from late July on roaming data after which there is a 10p charge per 1 megabyte.

This may well be ok for most people who need a bit of data abroad, but as I've said before, this is just the start of returning to the bad old days of sky high data rates thanks to brexit.
