Whilst I see the argument that healing is important, so is not breaking the law, promoting fake news and conspiracy theories, and generally being so corrupt that you have to pardon most of your relatives and friends before leaving the building.
There will be a percentage of the people who voted for Trump who just always vote Republican, and don't care what happens to him. A further percentage will have changed their minds after the Capitol building got stormed. Quite how many are loyal enough to care what happens to him is going to be a lot less than 74 million.
He has a strong following, there is no doubt about that, and there will be nothing you can do to heal the rift with them. But people broke the law, if they hadn't then there would be no need for him to pardon them.
America is a divided country, no amount of concession is going to heal that. The only thing that will fix it is time, and I don't mean 4 years, or 8 years. Like the UK, the demographics show that the older you are the more right wing you are, and climate change and wealth distribution are going to grow and grow as the main issues facing the world.
Both of these are traditionally liberal to left wing issues, and I fear the only way they will become right wing issues in the US is when most Republicans are under the age of 40.
(This is in the context of the US, where they can't even use the word socialism because it's equated with communism, and the idea of free health care is scary to most people for reasons that make no sense. The Democrats are probably closer to the left wing of the Tory party than the Labour party)

But there's this thing about the whole 'the 70+million who voted for Trump'. They ARE deplorable.
4 years ago he was a slightly unknown quantity with regards to politics. He was a f***ing despicable human being, the literal worst of humanity before he even started running for President, but there was this nonsensical mindset that even some of my more level-headed friends parrotted, that being that if he became President he would mellow out nd become more presidential. More reserved, and would ease up on the racist, misogynist hyperbole he was known for.
And they were wrong. From day one he, and those he surrounded himself with, exhibited characteristics more akin to a neo-fascist ideaology, from Sean Spicer shouting at the press for not going along with the lie about Trump inauguration audience, to Trump himself mocking the disabled and urging the crowds at his ego-stroking rallies to hold onto outdated mantras that made no sense 'lock her up'.
Trump will go down in history as the worst President America ever made the mistake of allowing in the door.
Anyone who voted Republican, deliberately, knowing that it would keep Trump in power if they won, were wrong to do so. Another 4 years of Trump would have decimated the country, in terms of the economy, international relations, as well as the Coronavirus pandemic.
There were no vaccine reserves. That was a lie.The 'plan' they had was woefully inadequate. Trump would have sat back and watched Americans die by the thousands, as long as his wallet was okay.
I hope he's convicted, and I hope they follow that up with banning him & his family from ever even running for local office. It was an experiment that failed catastrophically, hopefully never to be repeated. ============================ Writer`s Release

Russia loves to stir up division, it will be interesting to see what the Biden administration can do about this. Trump definitely let this problem grow because it suited him.
Twitter, Facebook, etc, can only do so much to block the work of state sponsored troll farms, at some point you need a government to fight back.

Some of you just never learn..." I dunno... When 74 million people vote for someone after four years of evidence of his destructive buffoonery, it's hard to be charitable. The kindest thing I've heard said about Trump supporters is that they are in a cult, and need rehab to break them out of that circulat mindset.
