Excellent news, although I wish they would stop calling the God particle.

I`ve already seen comments from religious people reading this and thinking it proves the existence of God...

I`ve noticed a few people have been away for extended periods now.  Paull hasn`t posted since he had that tiff with the Dr 42%er and the thread was closed down!  Sure he`s still lurking in the shadows... or at his villa in Spain.  He has a villa in Spain incase anyone didn`t know!

Don`t get too exited about the higgs boson, Apple are already planning to have it banned for infringing on their copyright.

hehe :-)...thanks R8sso. Not been away, just not posted much...so perhaps that means I`ve been away. I can`t match the villa in Spain unfortunately, just a flat in Lewisham.

I`d read that they were likely to announce this, because they`d invited Mr Higgs himself to the conference.

But apparently, there is some other conference or something, which is happening straight after, which was hoping to have the announcement but are now a bit peeved.

Still, I`d like to be one of the first on this forum to congratulate the amazing work by physicists at the LHC, in finally proving that a particle I don`t understand, which completes a model of quantum theory that I also don`t understand, exists.
