Page 1 of Good music for editing a comedy trailer?

I`m editing a long form trailer at the minute (cut from 1080p material) using your typical trailer music and clips from a wide variety of films.

I`ve kind of cut it by genre so far, and I`m now on `comedy`, which is formed of bits and pieces of films coming out soon, and ones that have been released within the last couple of years.

Now I`ve had no problem finding music for any other genre, but comedy is tricky. The tendency is to use multiple tracks in a typical trailer, and they are usually artist/band tracks.

So what I`m asking is (and this would be a good one for Gareth), can anyone suggest good music to cut with? I`ve got a few ideas myself, but thought I`d garner some good opinion first.

Hmm, this is a tricky one indeed!

The only song I can think of off-hand is "Hey Little World" by The Hives (which was used in the Kick Ass trailers).

Or maybe "Gut Feeling" by Devo (used in the trailers and soundtrack for The Life Aquatic)

I`m assuming you want to avoid cheesy "comedy" music like the aforementioned Benny Hill music, so how about something funky like David Arnold`s theme from Hot Fuzz?

I`ll have another look through my film music tomorrow...

How about a bit of Ron Goodwin?  His "Schickel Shamble" was the theme tune for "I`m Sorry I haven`t A Clue".  Or there`s that very cliched "comedy" track they used to use in the 70s over silent movies - Comedy Cocktail Pt8 (it`s on the Girl In A Suitcase album if you can locate it) - or the "Vision On" medley from the "Day The TV Stood Still" album.  Then of course there`s Sondheim`s "Comedy Tonight" which gives an opportunity for a flurry of fast cuts starting with the "Pantaloons and Tunics" line.

The comedy bit is towards the end, but worth watching the whole thing of course. ;)

Oh and please go through to the actual YouTube page too, rather than the DVD Reviewer embed link, as it`s available there in High Definition.
