Thats why there was an `agreed black out` on reporting that he was out there. Was it not the yanks who cocked up and told everyone? :/

The surprise in media circles, where the deal brokered between media organisations and the Ministry of Defence not to report Prince Harry`s frontline role in Afghanistan in return for access to the prince during his deployment has been known about since mid December, will be that the story did not leak out earlier.

And although UK media only ran with the story today after it appeared on the Drudge Report, Australian women`s magazine New Idea actually broke the news on January 7. German newspaper Bild is also reported to have run the story.

Quite pleased for him actually. Didn`t see the news last night so this was a surprise for me when I hit the BBC site earlier this evening. I watched edited interviews with him and he seems just like a normal guy in uniform. Think he should be fine where he is and probably why that location was chosen for him as in his words `it`s a no mans land, no civilians`. I would imagine they`ll whisk him out if there`s a sudden influx of guerilla reinforcements in that area, his personal bodyguards seem to be Ghurkas so he`ll be fine with them.

About time he personally had some good press - which isn`t to excuse anything he brought on himself btw.

YES I`ve got a LOT of respect for the ghurkas BUT I`d put money on him having a tight circle of SAS types with their back up equipment ( BIG gun`s and black square glasses for the photographer`s ?! )

The word`s "Bullet Magnet" kind of ring`s true ????

I say keep him where he is ( kept in camp ), Increase air cover and just wait for anyone to come to the area with a gun and wipe them off the face of the planet ?!

Lovely. One man does the job of thousands of men before him and the News at Ten has to run a special extended episode just to fill us in on the story. Big bloody whoop. If he`s doing a job, let him do it like his comrades and leave him the f*** alone.

It`s a pity the news has come out while he is still there but they were clearly going to use the documentary footageon his return. The positive aspect is to remind people of the men out there and what they are going through. When is the last time Afghanistan has been shown on the news except for a brief photo of some poor dead soldier?
