RE: Will forums like this survive the growth of `social networking`?

Im not posting here as much but I still `pop` in most days :) Use another forum quite a bit too.

Use fb a lot for social stuff as its good for arranging events etc but I like the fact here, and the other forum, actually provide information, chat and general amusement.

Would rather lose fb over forums

RE: The worse week of my life.....

Im so sorry :(

Like others, have been in a similar situation so have an understanding of what you`re going through but wish that you weren`t having to deal with such a terrible time.

Thinking of you and your family x

RE: Civil service/ Public sector strikes

I also can`t strike. Didn`t get a pay rise last year (unless I get the promotion I`ve got an interview for on Wednesday for I won`t get a payrise this year)

My pension is ok.......I have to work til I`m 60 to make the most of it which, nowadays, is quite young in comparison to some people.

Would I strike if I could? Honestly, probably not. It`s not going to rectify the problem. Everyone is having it tough and to have a secure job at the moment is more important to me. I can bitch about how I work bloody long hours, earn crappy pay, have to do overtime for `extras` and don`t get any perks BUT it means I can keep a roof over my sons head - that`s enough for me.

RE: Festival line-ups 2011

Mills, not a fan of Pulp so guess that didnt really help but he put on a good show and really tried to interact with the crowd. Wouldnt see them again but did love hearing Common People live :)

Really hope the weather holds out for Glasto for you guys.

Woke up this morning feeling like Ive been hit by a truck!!! Not sure weather my husky voice is due to all the singing or whether my friend has shared her flu germs with me :/

RE: Festival line-ups 2011

So just got back from IoW (friend I was with was dying by this morning with flu bless her so between that, the rain/flooding/storms and the fact I have seen most of todays line up we came home!) First time Ive been there even though Ive lived just over the water for the last 16 years!

Highlight for me, apart from eventually meeting up with RJS :D, was Seasick Steve. He was amazing and we danced our socks off!! Jonh Paul Jones being on stage with him made my day :)

The Vaccines were also really good, jam packed in the big top for them so was good to see the crowd getting behind them. Iggy Pop was ummmm different......not my thing but seen as he wasnt allowed to bring the crowd up on stage he got the VIP`s out to dance instead (Dave Grohl doing what he later said in the Foo`s set `the Ozzy Osbourne dance as its the only one I know`) We could see Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear watching Iggy`s set from side of stage - Pat had his usual massive grin on his face!

Kaiser Chiefs did a good set. ABC gave me a blast from my past and were great. The Cult were really good. Pulp were ok and of course the Foo`s were fab!! Good to hear White Limo live along with some of their other new stuff (although think I was the only person singing to Stacked Actors where we were stood......bloody noob fans ;) )

Most disappointing band for me, by far, were KOL. Never seen them and Im bloody glad I havent paid to see them in the past. Sound was good and I like their older stuff but as a live band they left me cold.

Im sure I`ll have more to say about the acts over the next few days.
The only down side was them adding an extra 20,000 tickets this year. No extra room and we had to queue to wait for the purple fields to open - pain in the arse when its hot, you`re ladened down with rucksack etc and just want to get a beer! Part from that, overall a great time and, acts dependant, I will definately be going back next year :D

RE: Foo Fighters on TV next week

Can`t wait to see `Back and forth` had tickets to see it at the cinema but due to my sons report from parents evening ended up having to come home for him to do unfinished course work rather than going to see it >:(

RE: Would you be willing to send a few free texts to help please?

Thanks guys and gals, really appreciate it :D

Juls

Would you be willing to send a few free texts to help please?

Basically there is a plan to change the paediatric cardiac units within the UK. We are fighting passionately to save our unit. Its an amazing place and we are in the top 3 UK for excellant cardiac care. They want to `combine` the units throughout the country to leave a few specialist units.

Yep specialist units are great BUT this means kids travelling miles to have their treatment etc. Our unit covers the south west of England, Jersey, Guernsey and overseas complex cases.

So what Im asking is could you text "HEART" to 85001 and when you get a reply could you then text "I choose option B". All text are free.

I appreciate some of you may already be aware of campaigns to keep your local unit open (and I hope you`re supporting this) but if its not something you are aware of and you`re willing to send the text I`d really appreciate it :)

Ta muchly :D

RE: Poorly baby problem (possible bodily fluid discussions inside)

Sorry only just saw your post.
Can give Dioralyte as a `normal` drink. It`s enough to keep kids going if they aren`t eating as it has all the salts/sugar etc needed. Your lad should drink it all the time not just after a dodgy poo :) It`s not a preventative (no one, little or grown up) should take preventative.......you need to get the bad stuff out of tummies, not block it in.

You can`t exclude lactose/milk product intolerance but until the doc has done further tests its totally safe for him to drink it as an alternative :) can also put sugar free squash in it if he doesn`t like the flavour (it is gross!!)

RE: Poorly baby problem (possible bodily fluid discussions inside)

Stick with the Dioralyte until loose stools have stopped and no diary products at all (including biscuits etc with milk. Crisps, pitta bread, veggies etc only)

Gradually introduce minimal dairy over the next few days and see how his tummy copes. Sometimes swapping milks cause stomach upsets etc. We are seeing lots of little ones with ongoing stomach bugs.......couple of weeks isn`t uncommon. Take a stool sample to the gp and insist they send it (they can be pretty laxe in this department so don`t take no for an answer)
Hope the little `un gets better soon

RE: Should you get married?

Tbh its not something Ive looked into as marriage isnt something Im planning to do in the foreseeable future! Just know my lads Dad said he got a contract signed when he and his other half bought together to protect his share of the property for our lad.

Juls

RE: Should you get married?

No its the sort of comment which says I know more people who havent bothered to get married yet still have the same `set up` as those who are and are happy. Maybe my wording wasnt great but Bowfer, thats not what I meant at all!

I would never say marriage makes people unhappy - who the hell am I to judge what makes anyone happy/unhappy?

Juls

RE: Should you get married?

I`m not big on `marriage` making a difference. I know more people who are unmarried with kids and happy than I do married

Quote:
[/quote]And any marriage proposal that involves a pre-nup is just a big flashing warning sign to not do it!

I would do a pre nup of some sort!! I`ve worked hard to own my own house etc and would want it protected for my sons future I got married again.

RE: What age are you then?

Real age 40.
After a night out drinking and dancing I feel 80.
The rest of the time I like to forget I`m not 21 anymore ;)

RE: Best place to get sold out tickets?

Juls

RE: Best place to get sold out tickets?

I thought they are releasing more tickets in March?
