Page 1 of PCSO`s fail to rescue drowning boy

I am amazed that atleast one of these PCSO`s didnt enter the water and search for the boy.

I have read that one a PC arrived on the scene he entered the water and searched, sorry but to me that would be my instinct to search.

Kids in cold water can be resused after hours of being submerged.

Strange how they didnt attend the inquest to.

My instincts would be to dive in, but as the article says, they did not know where he was so I feel it is unfair to blame them.

If this is the actual chain of events, then I`m afraid the PSCO`s are being treated as scapegoats. Even if they knew the rough area of where the boy was, there`s no guarantee that they would have found the boy in time

And would have been putting others lives (not just their own) at risk too....if one of them had got into difficulty, someone else would have gone in etc...

Sad story though...

why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

My heart went out to the mother watching her although she seemed more upset than sad to me which may be understandable, Unless I knew exactly what happened (which i dont) then i would not like to blame the cso`s involved, what I did find interesting was my other half`s 1st question when she saw it, What were the parents doing letting them play near water??

Not that strange. I`m guessing the parents already made complaints and it was probably felt that the PCSO`s were going be held up by the family as scapegoats...

Two points already made:
1. Why were they able to get into this situation anyway (where was/were the parent/s)
2. The PCSOs would have been endangering further lives if they had jumped in

A third is the fact that they (the PCSOs) could easily have faced disciplinary proceedings if they had dived in and tried to be heroes. They were not trained for that sort of situation, and instead acted entirely appropriately by assisting the emergency services upon their arrival.
