What do you think of Valentines day? Doing anything special?
I`m a Valentines Scrooge, really cannot stand it. The kind of love that is celebrated on Valentine`s Day is conditional love -- "I only love you as long as I can stick my penis in your vagina love. That`s the deal. In return, you get this box of chocolates and bouquet of roses." It's totally true How easy is it to buy a meaningless gift such as flowers, teddy bear or chocolates - no thought has to go into it. Way to corny and forced codswallop! bleurgh!

Ouch!!
But I do agree that all of the `celebration dates`, have become grossly over commercialised. Valentines, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Christmas, Halloween, Easter etc.... They have just become an excuse for a vast amount of marketing and sales hype with very little concern for the underlying meaning of the celebration itself.
If you love someone then it is a 24/7/365 kind of thing, your daily deeds should show it.
I hate this `Today is the day you show your love` concept. I see this as just another indicator of the general deterioration of our society and the adoption of American style culture (although that may be an oxymoron). Still what do I know, I`m just an old fart who clings to old-fashioned family value.

Nah, Bollocks to Valentine`s Day. It`s not even a "holiday" and it can easily be ignored when you are single, 5 out of every 7 years it falls on a weekday anyway so the majority of people you see are just going out for a meal with their missus after work and it will only be mentioned to you in passing.
No different to every other weekend (or is that even more of a depressing though ;) )

Generally speaking I`m a cynical curmudgeon (no really?) but I don`t really think much either way about Valentines Day. If people want to do the whole hearts and flowers thing, it`s their call, if not, fine.

Many years ago, and quite soon after being dumped, I had to spend Valentine season working in the same factory as my ex, packing those bloody single red roses in tubes. Bah humbug! >:(

Valentines day to me is an empty gesture, buying some overpriced chocs and some flowers because its valentines day means nothing realy, surely buying flowers or surprise meals etc randomly is far more `romantic` than only doing it because you have to is better..if you have to wait till valentines day to do something romantic shows a huge lack of imagination to me :/
