Three in One: Whats your Favourite Book, Song and DVD/Video of the moment?

All rolled into one for me.

Reading Peter Hoeq`s `Smilla`s Sense of Snow` again.
Kate Melua`s `Nine Million Bicycles` on the CD. Saw her sing on BBC breakfast on a north sea gas rig and had to get her album, the second track just seems to be hard wired into my soul at the moment.
And real nerdy, going back in time to when I was a kid standing on platform 2 looking up at big green giants with fantastic bellowing engines as they pulled their trains out heading for London and being so totally blown away. So I`m watching `Destination Ramsgate` a video of the view from the cab of a preserved Deltic diesel locomotive going from Birmingham to Ramsgate in 98`.

Mind you I can do all three at once! read while listening to the music, and occasionally looking up to see the world going by. Think that`s a real lazy afternoon ;)

just finished reading James herberts Magic cottage, a very good slow burning creepy story. Got my eye on possibly a Richard Laymon book next (Ive got 5 of his only read one) Listening to The best of R.E.M -In time 1988-2003 at moment on PC . Watched Alien directors cut today, I`ve had the Alien quadrilogy boxset for about 3 years and have never yet watched one of the discs until today. Alien is almost 30 years old and it`s still an amazing movie.

Currently can`t put down "Hulk - The Incredible Guide" by Tom DeFalco. Haven`t read fiction in years. Keep listening to James Blunt`s "Back to Bedlam" - fave track is "Goodbye My Lover". Last week I watched "Goodnight Mr Tom" with my 10 year old as he is studying WWII at school. It always makes me cry. So that`s my fave DVD at the mo. One of my favourite movies of all time would be Planet of the Apes (Heston version of course) so I`ll pop that in for good measure.

The book of the moment is Risk by John Adams, which is all about the importance of risk in everyday life to help make society a better place...nothing to do with war games at all :p

I am listening to Snow Patrol`s album - eyes open - at the moment on random / repeat setting. It is the best album of the year without doubt, and after seeing them in vegas at the end of last month, i can`t get enough of them....favourite track would have to be make this go on forever, closely followed by set the fire to the third bar (good choice Stantz :D )

As for the DVD, well i am about half way through Murder One ... finally got atround to watching them after several months on the shelf... the series is equally good second time around, and i can now chuck out 3 more VHS tapes :D

I`m reading a book about Buddhism that my sister bought me ...never been interested in `off the shelf` religous doctrines ...until now. Sounds pretty sensible thus far...

Listening to `Howlin` Wolf` at the moment...country style rock with Velvets feedback. Got to be played loud...normally hate Country music though this is great stuff...

DVD wise I`ve been wading through the Universal horrors again (The Dracula / Frankenstein legacy sets) ....

Wonder what all this says about me...?

(Comix-wise I`m reading through a couple of hundred electronically scanned Hulk issues from the sixties....from Comic Central.cc ...)

Oh, go on then.

I`m still reading The Armchair Horror Collection, which is a collection of shorts that have been turned into episodes of late night anthology shows. It`s a massive fick book, and I`m really only reading in bed at the mo.

Songwise... erm... I`m listening to Overkill by Motorhead right at this moment, so that`ll have to do.

I`m currently re-watching the first season of Veronica Mars. An awesome show which turns everything you`ve come to expect from a high-school set drama on its head.
