America always was a 3rd world country. In fact to call it that is to denigrate other countries with long cultural histories.
As for the right to bear arms, it`s one thing to defend your nation but another to tote semi-automatic weapons for kicks.
But what can you expect form the only country to use nuclear weapons in anger, just so it could see the effects on human flesh?
You`re not telling me that dropping the H bomb at sea wouldn`t have brought the Japanese to the table, pronto.
Ask a redneck where in his precious constitution arms is restricted to hand held firearms and then wait for him to save up for an Apache helicopter!

Has anyone else read "Made In America" by Bill Bryson?
There`s a very good section in it about the "right to bear arms" and the reasons why the amendment was brought in. Astoundingly enough it wasn`t to allow brain-dead rednecks to randomly shoot the crap out of animals/intruders/cars that they`ve still got to pay for.
When the US first introduced a federal army the Second Amendment effectively became surplus to requirements. They just didn`t bother scrapping it.
